Confused about Desura and Steam Thread

Hi, new user to Desura, and love the concept behind it (basically Steam for mods?)

I am a bit confused about the differences in using Steam and Desura for mods though. IE. Minerva is listed under both Steam and Desura, so I should only pick one service to install it under, correct (in case of capatibilities, etc.)? I wish the Desura group and Valve/Steam could ink some kind of deal where mods would only be released under the Desura platform, and Valve would stick to AAA Games and Indies.

Anyways, can't wait for the mod support to expand in the future.

Steam doesn't install Minerva so it is fine to let Desura take over, as Desura will install Minerva to the same location.

Desura will not take over and install any games / mods already managed by Steam, so the two should work well together.

Damn, I already forgot about Desura again. You've got to advertise some more and point out, why exactly we should get it.

And about inking a deal with Steam: I'm sure Desura doesn't want that. Why would they want the non-profit mod scene to have a tool that doesn't make any money for them? There was a similar application by the IsoTX team, and I don't think it managed to get much popularity. The one thing I'm missing with all the tools is to give me a reason for download. With Steam - obviously - I need the application to run and update my games. The addition of an online shop is not my prime interest, but I do browse Steam games, from time to time. Gimme a similar reason to instal Desura!

We are starting to promote Desura heavily, and will hopefully provide tons of motivation to keep Desura running. Give it a shot we are adding new mods daily.
