So, you thought that F.E.A.R. looks nice? Well, Monolith is already working on their next FPS, and surprise surprise: it's another horror title. Before you grumble over their departure from the classic NOLF franchise (though I doubt many even know what that acronym stands for), look at some of these screenshots: Ww.insidegamer.nl.

Judging by the exclusive information available here: Ps2.ign.com , this game won't just up the ante in terms of graphics, but also gameplay. According to Monolith, you'll be able to use anything (yes, ANYTHING) as a weapon. Broken pieces of wood, sticks, pipes, shards of glass, you name it. Think Manhunt, with much much better graphics.

Why is this in PC Gaming Discussion? Because, if Monolith follows their tradition, it will debut on PC and then make it's way to other consoles including the XBox 2, PS2, and possibly the PS3.

Yeah, I saw this game in the recent issue of Game Informer. It looks absolutely amazing :D I can't wait to pick this title up (one I throw down the $400-$500 for an Xbox 2 and $60 for the game :P). I can't wait to see it in action :)

It'd better live up to NOLF! Though, it's in an entirely different genre.

Ah hell it better live up to Super Mario 64

This looks like it's going to redefine the entire horror genre. Me likey a lot :D

More than likely, it'll live up to the hype, perhaps even exceed it :)

Yeah, I mean imagine Manhunt (though you aren't some sadistic killer in this game), with incredible graphics, and the ability to use anything as a weapon to smite serial killers. Sounds bloody spiffeh to me.

P.S. David, the games we mentioned where previous Monolith titles, and excellent ones at that.

I have to thank you for mentioning Silent Hill 3 in particular. That's the best one in the series in my opinion. It's even better if you had played the first, because if its connecting story.

Horror gamers all the way :D

Other games you have to play: Fatal Frame, Resident Evil 4

I'll get F.E.A.R. for the PC and Condemned for the Xbox 2. That sounds about right :P

I can't wait to hear what the launch titles for that system are. It's been speculated that the console may be released late this year, so besides Condemned (and perhaps even Elder Scrolls 4), I wonder what there will be...

I'm pretty sure that Avalon will be a launch title as well. Though it hasn't even been officially announced yet.

Me, I'm a PC junky, so if Condemned is not going to be a PC game, I'll need to be happy with F.E.A.R. But that shouldn't be hard, judging by its screenshots,

Condemned will be a PC title as well. I just read my issue of Game Informer that has a big cover story about the game, and it said it will be coming out for Xbox 2, Playstation 3, and the PC, so rest assured, it will be making on appearence :)

I can't wait to see what kind of modding capabilities both F.E.A.R. and Condemned will have. They look to revolutionize the horror genre :)

they will NOT release the x-box 2 late this year, if they did it would fail like the dreamcast, it failed because of a lack of competition and it was too new/expensive for most gamers.X-box2 would suffer the same fate, bill gates didnt become the richest man in the world by being a dumbass

Um, the PS2 was released a year before the other consoles, and it did very well because of that. It was able to sell a lot of units because it went ahead and released their consoles before their real competition, which was Nintendo and Microsoft. Microsoft Games is looking to do the same thing and released their console ahead of the others, which is actually a smart business decision. They've been working on it longer than the other consoles, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was released this year.

I suppose, however, we'll just have to wait about 3 months and see all three consoles when they debut at E3 in May.

did you ignore my example of dreamcast? that was the first console that was like the ps2/gamecube/xbox that we have today, and probably more advanced in some ways. Playstation 2 was released when we knew that the x-box + gamecube was coming out soon after, PS2 already had a huge fanbase seeing as it had dominated the n64 and the dreamcast and had no other rival that had released anything yet. And anyway Playstation 2 succeeded due to the amount of companies that were dedicated to it, not due to its release date
