Computers: A World of Confusion (HELP! :S) Thread

Okay, so I've been looking over the Internet for ages now. I want a new computer/laptop. I want to have a fresh start, have a decent build for as little as possible. I don't want the BEST, I just want a decent full package (monitor, keyboard and tower) that I can use to program games. I think I'll need a decent graphics card and operating system, apart from that I don't know. I'd prefer to not have to build it myself and just get the whole package.

Any ideas?

To be honest, my laptop is around 5 years old... Windows 7, it was like $600, but even so it can still handle the programming I do. As long as you don't get anything /too/ cheap, you should be fine.

Why not check your local computer store?tell them what you are looking for in a computer,and ask for whatever price range you are looking for.Then go to your nearest inexpensive department store and buy it.Hope this helps,and good luck!
