Moddb.com I'm trying to upload a 600k zip file (cointaining an avi render) but when I do that, an error pops up: "The server closed connection" and the java applet freezes.
I'm using Firefox, Sun Java, Windows XP and a software firewall (Zonealarm)..

Fork, any ideas? Frankly, I don't like the java uploader. PHP is more simple :)

Doesn't support resume though, which makes it a lot harder to upload a couple hundred meg file :/

It's kinda useless when I can't upload even a file that under 1 MB :/

How long it is going to take to get this fixed?

Your the only one with the issue man, we cant fix your computer. All I can suggest is re-download any java applets to see if it fixes. I can assure you it's not a server-side problem.

Already done that. "Server closed connection" usually means that the server rejected the connection from my IP address.

Maybe its your ISP blocking it.

If that was true, how I am posting this message?

Because they aren't blocking this port.

And what port that would be for the java uploader?

When the PHP uploader is going to be set up?

I don't think there is going to be a PHP uploader, because the Java uploader is much more effecient for the server.

Oh well, no uploading files to ModDb then :(
I'm not the only one having this problem, I'm just the first person to report it here.

For what it helps, it is also happening to me...
(even after closing the firewall, in Netscape and IE)

I'd like add that I can't download files from ModDb's files mirror, I get 403 Forbidden when trying to download something.

hmm quite strange. I will investigate for you, but expect this to take a while (maybe not even be resolved)

Unfortunately a PHP uploader isn't really possible as PHP uploaders essentially put the files in RAM which would cripple the server. Plus there are timeouts, no progress bar all this other crap to deal with.

I'm looking into this for you

Can't you limit the PHP uploader to allow files less than 768 kb? And, the error is not with the applet itself, it must have something do with the server.
