HiI have just joined this site and I have just bought the Quake Collection from Steam, most of the games don't work, I have contacted STEAM (So called) support about this but they are just ignoring me, I want to know how to use Quakeinjector to be able to play the maps but don't know how to set it up, the only copy of Quake that I have came from STEAM and is working but it says that I have to have the original Quake installed, will the injector work if I actually buy a copy of Quake,or can I use the STEAM version?I have had NO help from Steam at all with any of the many issues that I have had there, including games that I bought not playing so I am hoping that someone on this site will be kind enough to help me with ANY of these issues. Thanks for listeningAlex

Some mods if not most need custom builds of the engine.

Having the original game gives your the binaries you need for the custom engines, but you wont be able to play many mods on base quake.

Dear SirI have Quakespasm, Direct Q and Darkplaces all downloaded and have tried them all but I don't seem to be getting anywhere, maybe I am not installing them correctly? I have deleted the Quakes games from Steam then downloaded them again to see it that would help, the mission packs play but then I can't get to the next level, the console comes up and says ''Error, the pointers have moved.I have been trying all this for 3 weeks now, I am not a gaming expert but I know a lot about computing but this is beyond me, when I try to use the Quakeinjector it says that I need to have the original copy of Quake which I thought I had when I stupidly purchased the Quake Collection from them but maybe not? What I want is to be able to play the mission packs and use the Quake Injector to play the maps but I really don't know why I am getting all these problems, I would gladly pay for remote assistance so that someone could set this up for me, I would also pay (If I have to ) to buy these games from the Quake Website if the Steam versions are not valid or useable.I have been getting a lot of help from this site and also the Steam community and believe me I have tried every suggestion that was put to me, tried the Mission Pack Patches, didn't work, I need to know how to get onto the next level in the Mission Packs and I need to know more about exactly what engine to try again and to install it so that it works, I am not interested in Quake at all as I have played it to death in the past.I have done everything I was told to get all this working, join steam, bought the games, quakeinjector, dark places ETC but I am really stuck, if you know anyone that could take over my computer with remote assistance or any company that would do this for me then please let me know I will gladly pay get this headache to go away.I have total respect for you and everyone else who is currently trying to help me and I am at the stage where I am embarrassed to ask for help anymore because people are trying they're best to help me but I am still just hitting a brick wall.On the Quakeinjector the maps look amazing but it says that data is missing, weapons ETC. but at least I got to that stage but I would really like all this sorted out, I will take any advice that you have about this problem, I don't mind the cost if I have to buy the games from the actual Quake Site, pay for remote assistance but as long as the maps and mission packs will work, so I have 3 problems really1) how to get to the next level in Quake Mission Packs2) how to get the injector to work 3) hot to install the right engine for Quake properlyI thank you so much for your help, time and patience with me but if you can help with any of these issues the I would be very grateful indeed. With RespectAlex
