Hello all,

My name is Mark and I'm part of a two man development team currently working on a single player, action RPG named Blight.

What is Blight?

Blight is a 3D hack ‘n slash, action/horror role playing game set in the post apocalyptic medieval fantasy world of Berigan. Blight has been in heavy development since May 2015 by a 2 man development team. It’s being created with the Unity 5 engine for the PC, which will be distributed via Steam through Greenlight.

Blight blends traditional hack ‘n slash combat with a blend of werewolf inspired abilities. Stab, bite and pounce your way through the unforgiving world of Berigan.

There's plenty more info on the game and progress images on our new website

Current Progress

Up until now we’ve kept the project and our progress very much to ourselves. We have the bulk of our design documentation looking relatively solid, our initial prototype is progressing incredibly well and already has beginnings of several key features implemented along with a playable environment.

Our biggest obstacle so far has been the lack of art and custom animations. We're currently making use of the Unity Asset Store for a bulk of our environment art, but we've had to create our own placeholder character models for the project, as well as the occasional custom animation.

Neither of us are artists or animators, so we really need your help!

Roles Required

You can also view all of the required roles on our website here

Character / Creature Concept Artist

Able to create various concepts for characters, creatures, as well as medieval fantasy armours and weaponry for them. There’s plenty of documentation to assist in this process. Other duties will include supplying 3D Character Artists with turn around images and other detailed images to assist with creation of 3D models.

  • Although not necessary, experience with environmental and architecture concept art would be a huge benefit.
  • Great attitude and an interest in the game
  • Skype – We don’t require voice communication via Skype, but we currently use it as a means of communication

3D Character Animator & Technical Artist

Currently our animations are either from various asset packs from the Unity store, or ones we’ve made ourselves to showcase certain features and abilities. We are not animators, so we’re in desperate need for someone who is experienced with 3D animation to take on this role.

  • Experience with character rigging
  • Knowledge and experience of root motion
  • Knowledge or desire to learn Unity’s Mechanim system
  • Although not essential, previous experience animating digitigrade characters would be highly beneficial
  • Great attitude and an interest in the game
  • Skype – We don’t require voice communication via Skype, but we currently use it as a means of communication

3D Character / Creature Modeller

The current 3D character models are all placeholder models which (other than the red dummy character) are all created by us. We need a new 3D character modeller to recreate these models.

  • Experience with high to low poly workflow, involving high polygon character sculpts and texturing
  • Knowledge or desire to learn PBR
  • Although not essential, an ability rig your own character would be beneficial
  • Great attitude and an interest in the game
  • Skype – We don’t require voice communication via Skype, but we currently use it as a means of communication

Environment / Architectural Concept Artist

Able to create various concepts for buildings, environments and scenes. There’s plenty of documentation to assist in this process. Initially your task will be create concept art that better represents the game’s environment locations.

  • Although not necessary, experience with character/creature concept art would be a huge benefit.
  • Great attitude and an interest in the game
  • Skype – We don’t require voice communication via Skype, but we currently use it as a means of communication

What Can You Expect From Us?

Firstly, dedication and commitment. We want this project to succeed and we have and will continue put many hours into the development of the project.

You’ll get full credit for any of the work you do on the project. If it’s visual or audio, we’ll have no problem with you putting it on your portfolio website.

Currently our budget is low, so we’re looking for collaborators who are looking for a fun but serious project to work on. We will get funded on this project but we’re going to need a solid prototype and prove we’re both dedicated and serious about completing project.

Once funded everyone who has helped on the project will be rewarded for their efforts. For now however, it may be best to look at this as an unpaid position.

How to Apply

You can apply through the website or by sending us an email to mark@blightgame.com

Please add the job title you’re applying for in the subject and include a link to your portfolio and or any examples. Feel free to include any other information relevant to your application or even questions if you have any.

You'll also be able to keep up to date on our progress either via our new dev blog on our website, or on our new project here on IndieDB. We make regular progress on the project.

Thanks for reading.
