Battle Royale: The Fight For Survival | Locked | |

Battle Royale: The Fight For Survival, a Half-Life mod, is based around the controversial book released in Japan based around a class of 9th graders that are taken from their school and dropped on a deserted island in a bout to kill everyone but themselves. We take this a step further with adding realistic weapons and maps that don't just belong on a deserted island, such as a high school, video arcade, and a moving train. Take that and add a game so agile, so fun, that one would like to play it over and over again. But there is another aspect - instant respawn! No more waiting to jump in the fun. Not only that, but we plan to animate the best blood graphics we can find to make the blood really spill. There will also be, of course, a total Half-Life 2 conversion when the time comes. The fun never ends in this planned action-packed mod! To find out more, please visit our site at Site.voila.fr It is currently under construction, and we haven't posted any designs yet, but if you look at the FAQ, you can see where we're aiming at. Thank you very much. - Edited By ZReese On Sun 17th, Aug 2003 @ 8:21:30am |

"Program Conditions: All members of the class must kill each other until one survivor remains. All students are supplied with a ration of food, a map of the island, and a weapon. All students will wear an explosive bomb collar which also monitors life signs. Students are free to move about the island but must stay out of designated danger zones that will frequently change locations. If there is more than one survivor at the end of the game, the remaining bomb collars will be detonated." ----- I'd presume more people would be fimiliar with Fukasaku's film, rather than Koushun Takami's novel. The film itself implants such vivid imagery, it'd be difficult to adapt with being influenced by it. Has anyone actually seen the sequel yet anyway? It's been getting such bad press, though the late director never really got the chance to finish it himself ... |

Well it wouldn't even have to be a Battle Royale mod. Simply take the team-mate elements, and you've got yourself something playable. I'll explain. Players are paired up into teams of two, and each strapped with explosives. Then, normal death-match combat commences. Should one player die (by whatever means) then the other players bomb is detonated, thereby killing them instantly. The winners would be the final team, left standing at the end. It's probably been done before, though I'm not aware of it. It could make for some nice teamplay situations though. |

The Kamikaze powerup is a suicide run. The point of what I suggest is to stay alive. They're not really one and the same. If the other member of your pair dies, then so do you (thereby enforcing team-play). There would be no respawn, the winners would be the last team standing. |

We actually have a gameplay mode such as that, which we came up with a few weeks ago when we first thought of this concept. It is adeptly titled "Lifeline". It is your basic team deathmatch, but this time, you and your team mate share the same life bar. Should you decide to camp and your team mate runs off, you both are liable to be killed, instantly killing the other. You must work together to get through the game without dying as much as everyone else. I hope you guys keep track of this mod, because we are getting pretty serious about it. Check the site, because I posted some news about it, as well as the forum we have been discussing things on. Thank you. |

We have several different gameplay modes, however, which I forgot to post before. Deathmatch – Standard Deathmatch mode Hide and Go Kill – Basic Hide and go Seek, but you need to kill everyone before they come back to the starting point (base) Capture the Flag – Standard Capture the Flag Tag – Using a knife, you run around leaving a mark in everyone before time is up without killing them. Battle Royale – Traditional Battle Royale rules. The order in which the students are deployed are dependent on a random number generator. To play Battle Royale, the minimum number of players is two. The game can be set up to have a maximum amount of deaths as well as extending the time limit to a finite number. The ability to disable the time limit is forbidden. The weapon selection will be controlled by the user, whether it be randomly selected or by player choice. Unlike the movie, there are no DANGER ZONES to worry about. The last player remaining alive wins the Battle Royale. Lifeline – Lifeline is a deviation from traditional Team Deathmatch. In Lifeline, two players form a team together and share one life bar. So without further declaration, there is a minimum of four players that can participate in Lifeline and the number of maximum players on the map should be divisible by 2 (not one person is considered a team). You can find out more by going to the FAQ on our site. Also, we will be having about 18 weapons, but once HL2 comes around, we are considering adding the aspect of fans, if we get enough of them, being able to send in their own models that we will put into the game for custom-built characters. This will add several different combinations of characters, overall adding a new feel to the mod. |

He was justified in doing so, multiple threads on the same topic just breeds confusion. There's nothing stopping you from further discussing your mod here. |
