The title says it all. Or at the very least, the title says the most important bit. Things needed to be dealt with, and now they have been. I am ready to leave behind bad memories and get back to work! I am college (uni if you call it that) student who is concentrating in creative writing. I have experience writing for games and can get a reference or two if you require it. :3 More important than that, however, I can give you samples of my work. I have several types of samples on hand as well as excerpts of previous works (from the game that was my personal favorite to write for) and of varying lengths all depending on what you prefer. In addition, I make it a habit to, once the possible employer has shown interest in the samples already given, make another short one tailored just for them and what they want out of the game before they decide to hire me.

I can also act as an editor and have before. I can do so by going through and giving detailed, written commentary on what could be improved upon, or I can take the document and make the revisions myself. I check for spelling and grammatical errors and/or the passive voice if it is wanted, and I can most certainly spruce up parts that are boring or confusing or at least point said parts out and leave suggestions. I have extensive experience doing this with short stories and in some cases amateur novels.

My good qualities:

  • I can bring pep and positivity to any company or studio that feels down and out
  • I am always an enthusiastic worker who loves what she does
  • I never do anything halfway, so you get my full effort and heart into your project
  • I have experience
  • I am easy to get along with
  • I do not take things too seriously
  • I have leadership skills and experience in that field as well (but, fear not, will not be starting a mutiny)
  • I love games!

My bad qualities

  • I can be a ditz. A smart ditz, but a ditz nonetheless
  • No matter how much I love my work or games, school must always come first
  • If this becomes a distraction, I will dial back my work
  • If another family or personal crisis comes about (which it hopefully won't, but they do tend to follow each other :s) I will most likely have to take time off or maybe even resign, depending on how bad things have become. It has happened before, and while I felt just awful about it, my family will always be more important to me than my career.
  • I go from bursts of "I am going to write 5,000 words today and make the best game ever!" to days of, "I'm just going to lie here and hate the world and whoever invented the idea of homework."
  • I guess, in short, while I'm generally a great worker, by biggest flaw is not being reliable.

I tell y'all the last part, because anyone who is considering hiring me deserves to know that first and possibly change their decision. I refuse to be unfair and only sell the good side of myself. As far as what can be done to make sure my bad qualities stay away, good are here to stay, and best work comes out to play, you can:

  • Show me you have enthusiasm and heart in your game as well! Obviously, I will be extra motivated to stay on track if I wuv you and your passion.
  • Give me details about your game and what you want from me. More, more, more! The more details, the better. It will ensure that you get just what you want. I cannot stress this enough. When I am given details of what to write, I can really make it shine through. An outline of the scenes you would like would be great. A page about your characters would be good, too. Really, whatever you have so far - how little or how small - will be volumes of help to me or any other writer you hire, if I may take the liberty to generalize. I cannot stress this point enough.

That's enough about me. Tell me about you. Leave me an email address you would like me to use to contact you if you are interested in hiring me, and I will get back to you ASAP.
