Thanks for checking my thread out, my name's David.
I'm a Game Designer, with a 2:1 BA Degree in Game Design.Apologies if I come across a little pretentious or arrogant in my post, I can sound quite snobbish sometimes!
I've been working alone on a ball platformer game inspired by Marble Madness on the Mega Drive, Kula World on the PS1, and Marble Blast Ultra for the Xbox 360 Arcade.
Right now the game is entirely playable, the ball is fully controllable with friction to climb up on ledges, a jump, and a button to slow the ball's movement in order to make precise and controlled movements.
I'm the only person currently working on this game, I'm writing it in C#, and I'm using Blender for 3D content, GIMP2 for 2D content.Originally I intended to finish this alone, in order to prove to myself that I was able to finish something from start to completion alone. No more prototypes, no more whiteboxed projects, I wanted something finished and colourful to put out on display and feel proud of.
To keep things simple, I've taken the project far enough to prove to myself I can finish a basic game. I've done a simple menu in the past on a different project, and I've already created 4 levels using a 3D asset pack off the Unity store, so really I would just be making 'more' of what I already know I can do. The game in essence is complete, it just needs polish which I can live without here if I'm honest, as I'm eager to move onto my next project with my newly acquired experiences. If I had a team to help delegate the work however, I would want to take this further. The only glaring thing missing from this game currently, is a main menu with splash screen, more levels, and sound. That's it. Everything else achieved or planned is icing.
So I'm reaching out to other Unity developers, whatever your skills be, to see if anyone is interested in helping me take this further than the basic game I've created alone. Composers, Sound FX artists, level designers, programmers to help me polish my C# scripts, 3D modellers, texture artists, anyone. If you feel you have something to add to this project, and you're looking for someone to work casually with in a no stress / no deadline environment, then drop me a line.

Important Details:

  • I don't plan on selling the game, I want it to be free for all to play.
  • There may be an Android version, as it's the sort of game that would be well received on Mobile.
  • The team won't be much bigger than 3 or 4 people max. I want to keep things close-knit and tight.
  • I'm looking for people who are also looking for long term commitment in terms of building a team. I want to meet people I get along with and work with on future projects. I'm not looking for short term members who only want to finish this 1 project and then move on. It would be nice to have variety and not just have 3 texture artists, or 3 modellers, but that all depends on you as a character.
  • Looking for casual commitment from you, but you don't see it as a hobby. I'm wholeheartedly set on getting into the industry either in the form of securing a job, or starting my own studio. I'm not asking you to put in 30, or even 20 hours a week, but I am asking that you love doing what you do, and you're serious about development not in terms of hours or work put in, but mentally. I want to progress as a professional and I want good things to come of these projects and get me further into the industry, I don't want people who's mood swings erratically, and are never motivated to put work in because they see their work as a hobby and don't take it seriously. This is the sole important trait I'm looking for in people who want to help me. Get this one nailed and you're on board.
  • It would be preferable if you were multi-disciplinary like I am. I create my own music, sound effects, write, program, 3d model, digitally paint, sketch, video edit, and animate my own stuff. I'm not great at everything I do, and my skill levels fluctuates from discipline to discipline. It would be nice if you're flexible, and do other things though. If you're a great 3D modeller, it would be nice if you were able to UV map your own models and paint them for instance. If you excel at one thing, it would be great if you had one other minor skill. Not a mandatory thing though!
  • Full and comprehensive English please. I've worked with people in a lot of other projects who aren't able to communicate in English very well. We're creating work in different countries, over the internet, through mostly text and occasionally voice alone, and all our work is interdependent in terms of what other people are doing. We need to be able to communicate more effectively than a team who work together in the same room, so a perfect ability to speak or at the very least write the language is also a mandatory pre-requisite. Coordinating ourselves through text and speech through a computer is already hard enough, let's not make mountains out of molehills.
