Dylan & Rumi - Maybell City (Right) and the Village of Seon (Left)

Welcome to Dreams' Recruitment Thread

First of all,
let me thank you for taking the time to read through my game's
recruitment thread. My name is Diego Alegre, lead designer/dev of a
serialized 3d Action RPG Project, currently Titled "Dreams"

About Dreams

Dreams is a Story oriented Action RPG with Naturist Undertones.

The game is meant to play differently than most Action RPGs, which
sadly tend to concentrate on the action and make character interaction
and story development a secondary, often scarce part of the game. We
want the story, characters and even NPCs (Townspeople, etc) feel alive,
and have well developed stories, personalities and lives.

The game's action battle system is meant to play like an Action game, but have the flexibility of turn based combat.

  • A "Stamina" bar and "Flow" bar affect your fighting and spell casting abilities in battle.
  • Group
commands ("Help me!" "Go!" "Fall Back!" etc) allow you to have control
of your AI partners in battle, you are also able to customize their
    battle style outside of battle.

What we're looking for

We need to get the "look" of the game ready while all of the programming , so we are currently looking for the following:

3d Artist (s) (VERY IMPORTANT)- We are seeking Artists for: Organic/Environment Art - Character / Enemies - Buildings / Objects

Concept Artist (s)(VERY IMPORTANT) - We have the luck of working with Sweetmoon Sweetmoon.deviantart.com, however, since she works at capcom and ankama, she can only help when she has the time. She's the lead character designer for concepts.

  • We need someone who can do a similar style of characters and can do orthographic images of the characters.
  • Someone who can draw Buildings and Environments / Levels

Sounds like an interesting project, Diegoale2000.

I might have missed it in the description, but is it aimed to be a stand-alone? Or is it a mod of sorts? How far have you gotten in production and what is your prediction of completion? Are we talking about several years or less? Single/Multiplayer? First/Third person? What is the size and distribution of the team? Are you a group of people located somewhere specific?

Best of luck with Dreams. I'll keep my eyes peeled :)

I'm glad you find the project interesting, Ni-Q.

I apologize for forgetting the information you requested, yes the game is Standalone and is being made with the Unity Engine, using a proprietary tool designed solely for fast, easy creation of RPG games.
If we were to use the engine in a "raw" state, I would say it would take several years to complete, however, this toolset we are using reduces design time to probably around a year of development.

The game is a single player RPG, you can have up to 3-4 partners that are AI.

We're not a studio or anything of the sort, our artists are all over the place, from Japan to the US to Costa Rica.

The game is 3rd person.

We are currently transitioning from what used to be a 2d game, so we're a little early in development, but as I previously stated, that toolset allows us to produce things at Incredible speeds. we should be releasing at least graphical demos within few weeks.

Indeed sounds very interesting and like am ambitious project.

I wish you all the best and will stay tuned for updates. Will you be setting up a ModDB page or some other source for information? Will there be any publicly available playable alpha's or beta's, as I'm assuming you're aiming to release this as a commercial game after completion?

Thank you very much for your encouraging words,

Yes, we will be putting up a Blog, we're writing a wiki with the lore, timelines of events, etc, and we're also going to be opening up the forums soon.
we will release a few graphical and gameplay demos through Webplayers, and when we're getting close to a an alpha or beta release we will have a few openings to use it and test it more than likely.

Yes, we will have a commercial release of the game, as well as a release of the RPG toolset (In about 3 months it'll be out)

Updated, Added a couple more screens.
We're in BIG need of a texture artist, also someone who can design level objects.
