I just wanted to put my source code for adding a new faction with a new AI on here so others who are interested in moding could take a look at it and use it as they will. This code is free for you to use and does not require any "must credit me for the code" nonsense. Enjoy it and good luck modding the game! - The only thing in this package is the source code, no textures or new models are in this code.

Thanks. Me and Doug have a very strict feeling about this kind of thing. If we do not give to the community how can we expect them to give anything to us? The simple answer is we can't. I will be posting tutorials on how to mod CNC3, how to pull off different tricks, that kind of thing as time go's on when I have the chance. that looks great! ive just began studing now to make my very first mod for a game for C&C 3. so far ive quite understand how to change the name and cost of unit so far. when ive decided to finish the mod to see if ive done it correctly by going to command prompt and type in where i installed the game i seem to have this problem saying it cant find the word 'Conquer'.
i was hoping if there would be a video that shows what people have to do from start to finish so itll be kinda more understanding than reading it or making the words be as simple as possible.
my idea of plans for my mod as a dream i always wanted for years to see is having 9 factions from kanes wrath having their own mix of units from tiberian sun, C&C 3 and C&C4. making them as Faction instead of subfaction and be much more than how EA treated them.
thats great I remember I tried to do some small modding for RA2 but the tutorials were so confusing or missed steps that I couldn't figure out that I gave up. I was wondering if anyone knows of a free modeling software so that I can try it cause $4000 for 3DS Max is just a little much.
When it comes to compiling the mods I don't use EA's .bat file or go through the command prompt. That is a serious waste of time and pain in the *** for no reason.
Instead I use Killers mod compiler. Take a look here.

I have gotten a lot of my knowledge from Revora's forums. Not much activity now days but there are a lot of topics already covered there on ways to do things.
As for free 3d tools, sorry what ever you choose to do you will need to have 3d studio max 7, 8, or 9 to compile the models into W3X. Those are the only programs that are compatible with the tools EA put out to make new models.
On a side note you can import models from CNC Generals into 3D Max 8 using an import script. And Gmax is a free program like 3d max for making general units. Just a thought.

What you have to do is edit the map you want your AI to work on after you build the mod. To do this you need to download the worldbuilder program for CNC3 from EA. Then what needs to be done is that the .cfg file needs to have this line added in.
try-add-config *full path to the .skudef of your mod*
AND this has to be the very first line in the .cfg file. Once this is done worldbuilder will load with the mod and you can add start locations and player information for your custom faction and custom AI. Happy modding everyone.
ive downloaded worldbuilder and got it working. could you tell me please where can i find the cfg file.
it's in the basic CNC3 directory. So wherever your CNC3 files are under program files is where the cfg file is.

Yes that's it. Right click on it and open it in notepad or notepad++, edit it there.
