Getting crashes/minidumps in early/midgame :(
Turns out the update turned on the steam overlay for some reason, disabling this I have not seen a minidump yet, sorry! :(
Vesari seem to be throwing errors, from dev.exe:
Required EntityDef not found: TITAN_MADVASARI. This could eventually crash the game.
Entity Ref not found: TITAN_MADVASARI
same i got a crash immediately as the game loads
About 3 hours into a Playing as Replicaters. Had a massive PC lock up, first and only time.
I have had no issues playing other factions.
Man I thought the mod was Dead, glad it got updated :D
Found the resolution to this issue:
1.96 added the following changes: Steamdb.info
So if anyone has the same issue:
copy the 3 added files from your {gamefolder}\GameInfo to your {modfolder}\GameInfo
Edit entity.manifest and add:
entityName "AbilityMadVasariTitan.entity"
entityName "BuffMadVasariTitanSelf.entity"
entityName "TITAN_MADVASARI.entity"
at the bottom (leave the single empty line at the bottom)
Go to the top of the file and increment the entityNameCount by 3 (for this mod it would be from 4200 to 4203.
This is a workaround but should probably be integrated by the author at some point :)
I think this should be the author, the missing Entity registration, and these files added in 1.96 must be registered, otherwise they will crash.
I have been aware of the issue for some time.
It can cause a crash when you use 'random events' option.
I will fix it in the near future.
There is a problem with neutral pirates.
Whatever we face, we suffer their attack even if the others have a bounty on their heads.
Is there a way to have an option that only allows one raid at a time?
The worst thing is that sometimes there are 3 AI who have a bounty on their heads and not me, but I'm still one of the 3 targets.
There is no problem with neutral pirates ... it is default rebellion behave.
If you don't like it de-activate pirates in the game options menu.
it's weird. I just retested and the pirates only attack 1 target in the original game.

Out of curiosity what do you see as area's for Maelstrom to be further developed?
Anything that spices up the late game. Always thought that if a race was fighting for its homeworld it should have an 'all hands' one-time ability to call up ships and defenses. Also, maybe autodocking of fighters and bombers for starbases to save resources. I can think of some more but really great work. It is the only thing that has kept me playing SINS for so long. The number of races etc. I love playing tech against the different challenges. I also only play solo vs AI so your mod has really kept me occupied!!
Sorry, one more thing. I usually disable the blackout ability. If you get 3 or more Noralimin dreads they just keep you out of the fight for so long nothing can happen. Maybe just make that work for weapons so at least we can run lol.

"autodocking of fighters and bombers for starbases" ... I will look into it ... but intuitively 'saved resources' would be not alot comaped to two large fleets in a battle in the same gravity well.

ok, one more thing lol. There are minimods that are used in the E4X, could you use them or make them work for Malestrom? Hands down your mod is waaaaay better. But it would be cool to have some choices.
I have followed mods that have minimods ... and I have noticed the confusion of players with the installation and use. I do not have the time or inclination to service such. I had these same issues even releasing two versions of Maelstrom ... standard and expansion.
My approach is the simpler the better... having all ideas incorporated into Maelstrom.

I was inspired to make Maelstrom because of another sins mod (7 Deadly Sins) ... I couldn't wait for new releases and improved content ... so I made my own mod

I thought of another idea. Could we expand research to make the game longer? The real fun seems to be in the early game. The late game always ends up the same. Rolling through systems with unbelievable fleets. Also, maybe we should limit the number of dreadnaughts?
I don't like to change the original races. My suggested is to use the game options to change research rates.
The number of dreadnaughts in a game is an 'age old' debate ... currently it is possibly a good compromise for all maps sizes.

Maelstrom is only supported for English.
This is a long term issue as producers of the game do not extensively support other languages ... this is manifested by even finding the 'string' files for other languages.
