This submod simply makes unit formations tighter.
Requirements:
**IS ROTR 1.2** and some unzipping program like winrar or winzip
Installation:
*Open Imperial splendour.exe and make sure you have IS ROTR turned on.
*Navigate to your etw directory, open data and make a backup of your IS DB.pack file (this is just incase you want old formations back).
*After you made the backup replace the IS DB.pack file with the IS DB.pack file in the .rar, (it should ask you if you want to replace the file, click on yes)
And that was it! Now you have tighter formations for IS ROTR.
Changelog v1.00:

*Kingdom of France: tighter formations for infantry.
Changelog v1.01:
*USA: tighter formations for infantry
*Prussia: tighter formations for infantry
*Denmark: tighter formations for infantry
*Russia: tighter formations for infantry
*Hannover: tighter formations for infantry
*Netherlands: tighter formations for infantry
*Bavaria: tighter formations for infantry

Changelog - france fix:
*French Republic: tighter formations for infantry
Changelog - Austria fix:
*Austria: removed tighter formations on 2 cavalry units which had them for some reason and fixed other line infantry which didn't have tighter formations
Changelog - sweden fix:
*Sweden: removed tighter formations on 50% of the cavalry units which had them also for some reason and fixed other line infantry which didn't have tighter formations
Would a faster combat submod be possible? I love battle atmosphere with this mod but combat is insanely slow. Cannons don't hit anything, full regiments fire but only get 2-3 kills and cavalry walks everywhere, refuses to run even when 'charging' and when they connect their melee lasts for 5 minutes.

I could probably mod the DB so infantry would be more accurate at hitting things and make them rout less but sadly I don't think I can do anything about the AI.
I would say leave it as is. Part of what I love about NTW3 is the slower pace, and this capitalizes on it too. Sorry if it's boring, but it's realistic having short ranges and low accuracy for infantry, clumsy formations, and a higher emphasis on pre-battle planning and maneuver for a 18th century game.
yea also I feel like troops will withdraw much to easy even when they aren't being flanked
Is there any chance we could get tighter formations for more than just the 1.0 factions?
yup, might be able to update the file somewhen later today
Is this compatible with IS 2.2?
nope, only compatible with IS ROTR 1.2
This is such a great submod thankyou - makes it feel more historically accurate.
Thanks :)
So with this latest version are all the missing textures fixed on units? I tried playing this mod a few months back but there was to many missing textures.
yup, the devs fixed a ton of stuff with the newest rotr update (rotr 1.2); if you're asking about the submod no, all it does is add tighter formations
is it working with ntw
nope, only with empire total war with the 1.2 version of ROTR
for France nothing has changed is this normal?
Sorry for the late reply, I was kinda inactive during January. shouldn't be. I'll take a look..
Alright, I fixed and uploaded the new file. This time the French republic should have tighter formations, sorry for the inconvenience..
I have a recommendation for Imperial Splendour:
Early campaign start version
hmm.. This is possible but it will take a decent amount of time, for now I recommend using either ROTR or the older versions which have an early campaign start. I also heard the developers will do an early campaign after they are finished with ROTR, although it may take a lot of time too..
can you make it like ntw group formation, like when you choose 2 units its really spread out so i was wondering if you could minimize the the space between two units (regiments) in battle
It's probably really simple - but I have not figured out how to do it, yet.. It'll take some time to search through the twcenter forums but it's definitely possible - the question is if most people want it integrated into the tighter formations submod or have it as a standalone version with the tighter formations (both are possible by just creating 2 subfolders with the db files)
hey, It is no longer working for me. I put in the file and replaced it but nothing changes.
that's weird.. which faction are you playing as? or is there generally no more tight formations for any faction? If it's a minor faction, it's supposed to be like that since I haven't modded some of them yet..

Are you able to combine this with the all factions unlocked submod?
where do I put the file
Weird thing going on with this, the file i downloaded is called, IS_DB pack, the file i already have in data is called, IS DB pack, it did not ask me to replace, should i just delete the old file?
NVM, i just renamed the file to IS DB and replaced it, my formations are tight now.
