Is that the big new release or come more in next time?
What is with the tape fix?

This is staging release. Just to cover up some problems 7th had + extras.
Tape isn't fixed due to reverse engineering problem. And probably will not be. There is potential workaround, but FC2 modding is already painful enough.

So it is not possible to fix?
I mean it was introduced with V1.03. Means V1.02 didnt had the tape issue. Maybe that helps? You could try look for what causes it and what exactly was changed in V1.03. Maybe its in the exe though which would make it extremely difficult.

Yes it did.Personally not a fan of it doing that, but it's not a major problem if you played the game so much you basically know the entire map.

Is there anyway to check how much ammo you have? Also is there any plans on adding a compass that shows which direction you are facing in a future update?

I have no experience with Far Cry 2 modding but I don't think making a compass is possible.Maybe you could do it by doing something with the GPS,but I doubt it.

Cannot use the installer for this, it keeps telling me that patch.dat and patch.fat and Dunia.dll are experiencing "Error opening file for writing: \100\Data_Win32\patch.fat - patch.dat - Dunia.dll" i tried manually installing version seven, and it worked fine... can you upload a way for people to install manually?

Already fixed this issue.
You can use installer as unpacker placing it into any folder, when there is no FC2 installed with official setup.

Nevermind. Installed it correctly now.

I installed it without the new Animations but the new Animations for the M1903 are still there. Is there a way to get rid of them? They're pretty annoying.

Noticed a really annoying bug with the mod. When I pick up the crossbow from the armory it just instantly breaks when I try to fire it,it's so bad I even noticed it breaking when enemies are using it.

And two suggestions I have would be to reduce the damage you take from the 50 cal,as it instantly kills you on every difficulty, and maybe make the Utility truck a tad bit faster,as it can't even climb steeper hills.

Update.Okay,it seems that the crossbow is broken in "some" armories.I found one in which it is brand new,but in most it's extremely rusty and breaks instantly.

Another interesting "feature" I found:In one armory in Bowa-Seko I found an AR-15 in the DLC weapon crate,it was strange as I haven't even unlocked it.It had a 5 round magazine and fired shotgun shells....I'm not sure if this is an easter egg or a bug.

I know it's been half a month, but maybe you can answer: did you start a new game with the mod?

Im curious about this one because in the vanilla files its like the crossbows didn't blow up. And now that they do, I'm thinkin previously spawned weapons may not like having to suddenly be susceptible to exploding. I got a feeling I'm completely wrong, but.

Yeah,I check here often.Yes I did start a new game,I did try loading an old vanilla save and it just crashed when I tried to do that.I'm not sure,it seems like in the Northern region every crossbow in the armories is useless, but down south they all work,it seems.

I played this mod a bit, so I'll help myself to make a little review. First of all, gotta say you had nice idea guys. This game is definately underrated and lacks any decent modding scene, so when I saw your piece, I was really happy and I wanted to try it.

Unfortunately, outcome's rather pale. Allow me to write down things that are weaksauced and/or halfassed, pardon my french.

First of all, animations. I know those are optional - but even so, shouldn't those be made a bit better? You see, first time I threw a grenade during a shootout, I thought I got hit by the train. Or elephant, to fit the African background... Same goes for reloading a shotgun - does the mercenary have to wave from left to right like a boat during a storm just to do something so simple? Taking morphine also looks dim - where "looks" is a bit of an exaggeration, since you see almost none of it.

Second thing, weapon textures. I understand you guys wanted to leave your mark, but why change something that was close to perfection? For example, Springfield rifle looks really unprofessionally made with this deep dark brown colours, which fits it like a glove. Instead of a texture.

Third, as in 'Third Rate Weapon Changes'. You wanted to make guns more realistic - I dig, and fully approve. Especially damage done was neglected and crappy-made in vanilla game. But while messing with recoil and such, you guys forgot that PC is a hard to the core mercenary, not some ****** militia or reservist. So why is that .45 pistol kicks like a howitzer and 5.56 rifle at two-three shot bursts throw me off target couple o'meters?

Fourth, HUD changes. Immersive, I know. But the vanilla one was immersive enough - and along with that, able to provide necessary information. With changes you made I can't even tell how much magazines I have left - let alone check my magazine or health status. Don't remove something so importatnt if you don't even plan to add something more immersive yet working. I mean, what's the problem with checking how much mags you got left at yer *** in real life? Ejecting a magazine to check bullets left is a thing mercs never do? Same goes for body-check to at least find if you're leaking or not? Ow, come on, guys...

Fifth, map and displays. Yeah, it's just a minor aestethic thing, so don't mind it. It's just that those icons are ugly and hard to guess at first what represents what. Also, I get the idea with turning off the GPS map - but why'd you have to turn off the phone display? I mean what, African air prevents anyone from using some ****** Motorola with a working display?

Sixth, weapon sights zoom. Yeah, I dig, irl you're not actually zooming the view when looking down the sights. Fits them handguns perfectly. But how about a rifle? It's not like you keep your head at the buttstock when aiming. You really DO move your head closer to the ironsights, mind this.

Seventh, and last for now. Aestethics again. Why'd you go and cleaned all the water, guys? I know you felt sorry for poor africans that have to live with this dirty and full of bacterial life water, but you just gone and murdered solid part of immersion you were trying to accomplish. Really, it's like swimming in the pool now. Or Hawaii. I don't recall ending up in a hawaiian armed conflict...

Anyway, guys. I hope you'll see reason in my complaints. It wasn't my intention to bring you down - rather to show you what went wrong. Keepup the good work and I hope for a reply. Cheerio! ™

I gotta bring you up on only two of your points. The gun recoil, and your suggestion that we're playing someone who is gonna be trained-military and strong, and would have more control over the gun.

But I'm going to suggest that using that mentality we shouldn't have to even control the player character, and he should go on his way without us bothering to meddle.

I just went ingame to get a feel for the guns, again. Come on dude, they feel so good. They feel like actual guns. The fact that you can counteract the recoil by pulling down with control IS the PC's military training. You're just using his muscles n that ;D

Your complaint about the water - I remember turning up the geometry graphics above medium for me turned the water totally clear, perhaps this is the same with you? Because I have just checked vanilla and I.F. and the water looks the same! And perhaps with your recoil you are complaining because you can't control it? I only ask because I also had this problem, thinking that it was the mod's fault, and I had to reinstall the game to fix it.

The weapon sights zoom I sorta agree with. It wasn't too serious a zoom to be considered unrealistic, and in real life we can sort of 'zoom in' by trying really hard (squinting, na?)

The phone display turning off is probably unavoidably linked to the turning off of the GPS n all that.

But what I think you are right about is the player's ability to see how many mags he has left. But unfortunately the game doesn't actually have a magazine system in place, and so it's probably an all or none case with the ammo-counter's visibility.

p.s. the sniper's reload animation is growing on me >_>

When it comes to recoil, well... It's like leveling up, mate. Ever played Deus Ex? The first one, yeah. During the course of game you could develop certain skills and use mods to lower the recoil and/or even remove it completely. Playing mercenary in FC2 is like having top small arms-skill level. At least that's how I see it. I know that we should - as a players - remove recoil partially by using mouse controls. But still, it seems to be a bit too heavy, considering PC background. And of course it's hard to control - it's not easy to shoot someone merely 50-70 meters away with a rifle becasue short burtst tend to miss all around the target. I don't recall G3 beign a CQC-designated rifle. But let's leave it at that, because again it may just be my aesthethics speaking.

Vanilla on the same settings works perfectly fine, so I don't think so... Well, can't really check it now.

Mags, bullets - just a way of saying it. That's what I meant. But hey, what's the problem with vanilla hud? When we pressed 'reload' button we were actually able to check how much ammo we have left - same as patting your pouches in real life to check ammunition status. What was so wrong that you need to remove it? But aside from that, yeah, I'd LOVE to see actual mag system, like in old R6:RS or GRAW. Eeeeh...

Please, don't do animations again. My head is spinning... After I wrote this review, I bought Springfield and tried to reload it. I think I broke my neck.

Well, if I didn't reply to some matters, it means I agree with ya, or am just at loss of words, hehe.

Heheh. I've brought this game up I'm about to bring up about 4 times since I arrived at moddb, but Project Reality instantly came into mind when I started playing this mod and that's because it's the only other game I've ever played where I've seen such heavy kick for guns. And actually the G3 is really powerful, and even in that game (which is a 50v50 multiplayer battlefield) people either use it single shot at distances, where in close quarters they do spray.

While the animations grow on me, I know what you mean. I noticed that what messed with my brain is when the animation ends abruptly, sorta snapping back to the default holding position of the gun. Not the wild swinging about like we're watching the game through a wobbly headcam... that doesn't dizzy me. Seriously, look at it again and tell me if you see what I mean, because these animations could be cool if they were smoothed over, innit?

Back to Project Reality: in that game you were not shown how many bullets you had left in your mag, but you were shown how many mags you had left. Which is a perfect system and is what these devs would do if they could (which Im pretty sure would be a lot of work). So the only question remaining is if the current system in place serves its purpose or misses the point. I dunno... it feels irritating to my instincts to need to reach a certain amount of ammo before information on remaining ammunition is revealed to me. Arbitrary and that.

I dont know, in summary, if its worthy or not.

You obviously never fired a real assault rifle before.I only ever fired an AK,and an AK-74 at that, which has a much smaller caliber compared to the AKM in the game, and let me tell you, this game does a really good job at realistic recoil. In real life, you'd almost never fire a gun fully automatic, except in 2 situations:1.)Supressive fire 2.)Close Quarters
Same with this mod.The AK has surprisingly low recoil, same as in real life(Unlike the overexagarated myth that it's a cheap and inaccurate piece of crap.)

I've never fired a battle rifle, but I do believe an actual G3 would kick like a mule, add to that that the variant in the game has a retractable stock, which are infamous for making guns much less accurate.

As for the HUD,Yeah, the could do better, but it's either impossible to do better given the mod hostile engine or they'll do it in a later patch.Only really unrealistic element is not knowing how much health you have,I mean, you'd probably know how hurt you are by noticing several bullet holes in your chest in real life, right?

Im iffy about it also, but only because I wanna play this game permadeath style. But really, it's fine: it adds the exciting new gameplay element of having to keep in mind how ****** up you are. Like keeping count of ammo, it adds challenge and fun at the same time. It changes the mentality of health from a bar in the bottom left, into a more intangible, instinct-fueled element (i.e. IMMERSION, baby)

Health bar's deactivation makes you think about your health.
System still works as it should.
But difference is, that now you check it by finding water to see if you want to drink to replenish health bar segment. You start thinking about health.
Same with syrettes: you will not use them, if character is feeling ok.

First of all, I love this mod! You turned farcry 2's biggest weaknesses into its strengths, but I have a question-

Pistol 1 (Makarov?) costs two diamonds in the latest patch 7.x and pistol 2 is also the same price, but Pistol 1 clearly has more ammo capacity and no recoil at all, as compared to Pistol 2. So if pistol 1 is clearly better, then what's even the point of pistol 2? (since they are the same price and all)

Some bugs-

1. Grenade amount upgrade doesn't seem to be working in this mod, as you only get two grenades even after buying the six grenade pouch. (This happened in previous patches too)

Although, this can be fixed by turning the mod off, and buying the upgrade in vanilla, and installing the mod again.

2. I couldn't find explosive crossbows in armouries.

That's it, keep up the good work!

What do you mean no recoil on the second pistol (the star, right?).

Also, your grenade problem involves the fact that you don't know enough about guns n ****. ;P hehehe.

The devs of this mod got a bit gun-nerdy with the names of things, and now us plebs are left slightly confused. If you look closer (you shoulda looked closer) you'll see that you bought 40mm grenades (for the grenade launcher) instead of the m67 grenade webbing. Yay

You may find explosive crossbows on your travels. I dunno. Explosions are cool n all, but normal bolts are cooler.

Yeah... I guess I should've looked. The names really confused me when I installed this.

I meant that 'Star' has a lot more recoil and smaller clip size as compared to 'Makarov' but they both cost 2 diamonds, and considering the fact that pistols have unlimited range in FC2, I don't see why they are priced the same :/

P.S Sorry for asking stupid questions :P

ooh, I see what you mean about the pistols. Perhaps, just like in real life, the differences between some guns come to preference, instead of the exaggerated statistical differences games contrive for gun balance and variety.

I prefer the star anyway x)

I found this mod really good, but I have one big problem with this build.
The syndrome "Goddammit, where the **** I am now!?".

At least try to mark the north on the map or give a compass or enable the GPS, but like this is not fun at all to be lost in Far Cry 2...
But the rest I have no issue... Well, yes for some animation like the Shotgun related, but that's nothing exept the awesome (hum hum) feeling of being lost for hours (yes, I have a bad orientation) in Far Cry 2 because you have no way to understand where is the North/oust/east and west in the game.
