Description

This dowload has the BSP in so its easy for you to put in to the directory and play. Problems - Missing Textures - As i am working on a L4D project too it is possible i have mixed a texture or two, but this is very rare. Playability - Try playing on Easy - Medium - Hard and testing your skill Updates and Continuation - Depedning on the feedback this project will continue and change.

I find that you spawn far too many enemies in a bottle neck and so with the combination of fancy graphics and npc's I'm getting a bad frame rate, and I have a quad core gaming pc so needs some optimization badly. A missing texture that you use frequently is missing for me. I'll try to finish and tell you what else I think.

Yes apologies meant to post similar report. Getting about 9fps at start. Wasn't sure if the problem was at my end so I decided to wait for other feedback.

My computer runs everything on very high so will look at better optimization when I get back

haven't played it yet, but when a quad core pc has around 9 FPs that it clearly needs to be cut up in portals. i have a dual core 2.4 Ghz with a ENGTX275 card so i will see what kind of fps i have. but i assume that you then have a super high end pc with triple quad core or something when you can run it on high with high fps.

even when you can run it, please always keep in mind that most people that play mods don't have a high end pc. when you keep you're maps playable for most players you make that more people can run you're maps. and that doesn't mean that you can't make what you have in mind, just add portals and all problems are solved. (and add that other brush, forgot the name of it for now), that makes that not all models and props are spawned in the distance when they are not needed yet.
other then that, i said it before, it does look very interesting and nice. but this fps problem does make me a bit sad.

i am sorry but this simply isn't playeble, and please don't get me wrong. i LOVE hard gameplay (many enemies) but this is silly, around the corner there are loads and loads of combines standing. and about the missing textures, you write there could be one or two missing but when i started the map the whole floor and ceiling was purple/black blocked what made it look like much more enemies where missing.

did you use detail brushes, because if not then please do so next time, that also could make that the fps drop like crazy.

its a real shame because i tracked this map for quit a while and looked forward to playing it, but with the missing textures and the very,very low fps it simply isn't playeble.

you say you have high fps, could you please tell me you're pc specs, i asume you have a 2x 4 processors or so, otherwise you can't get such high fps, even when you play on low settings.

a REAL SHAME!!!

i suggest you open this map again in hammer and fix these issues, because now you get very low comments on a map that probebly is worth a whole lot more then that. but because of these mapping mistakes you did ruin the map quit a bit, sorry that i say this.

mapping is more then making a great map, the techical issues are at least as importent as the eye candy if not more importent. because when a map does look great but can't be played by 80 to 90% of the players, then what is the point of making such a map.
again, sorry, i don't want to sound harsh, but this is a real disapointment, and more so, i simply don't understand it why you didn't fix this all. and add the textures, or replace them with others, because now it really does look bad, pruple/black blocked floors and ceilings take the focus of the player compleatly of the gameplay all together. again, its a real mistery to me that you did release it like this, and, that you didn't fix it ones the comments started to come in.
now all you're hard work was for nothing.

Did you place the files in the HL2 or the Ep2 directory? If you use the Ep2 directory you wont be missing the floor and ceiling textures.

As for the performance at the beginning of the map we will have to wait for Mrksmt9 to optimise it when he returns.

thanks, and i did indeed place it in the HL2 folder, but i did so because at the top of this Moddb site it says that this mod IS a Hl2 map. it's best that you change this too because many people will place it in Hl2 because of this. (i asume that you started this map with Hl2 and made this site, and lateron went on to the ep2 engine, but forgot to change the title of this site.)

good to hear that he will work again on this map, because i say it again, its a real shame. i asume that he only needs to change more structual brushes in to detail ones, and place some portals and all will be well, and maybe reduce the amount of combines. because there are simply to many of them in such a small hallway.

i will keep tracking and wait till he has made the changes, and then play this map.

So sorry about the many faults with the map, many i didnt realise, this will be re-released soon.... Your more than welcome to update or optimise this map !
