Many changes have been made since last version. Please read the installation instructions first.
Homeworld 2 Complex Simple (in BIG form) Installation:
1. Extract ComplexSimple.big into the DATA folder of your Homeworld 2 game folder. For example, D:\Homeworld2\Data
2. Go to Homeworld2\Bin\Release Folder, right click on Homeworld2.exe and create a shortcut. And be sure your Homeworld 2 is already V1.1!
3. Right click the shortcut, and left click Properties, then add " -mod ComplexSimple.big -hardwarecursor" to the end of the existing line in the Target box. For example, D:\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe -mod ComplexSimple.big -hardwarecursor
(Don't forget to click Apply)
4. You can now play this mod via the new shortcut!
And if you have any trouble installing or playing this mod, just tell me, I'll examine the problem and come up with solutions at first time!
Main changes from 1.3:
-- Game speed has been enhanced further, although it's still not as fluent as Path To Victory mod. I believe this is caused by the lack of LOD in some Hiigaran ship and subsystem models, which is still beyound my ability to solve
-- Subsystems and turrets have been added or modified on many ships, including:
Hiigaran: all six destroyers, mini vortex, battle carrier, battle shipyard, cruiser type A and B
Vaygr: battlecruiser, dreadnaught, heavy destroyer, battle carrier (now it's called escort carrier), artillery cruiser, guardian
-- All fighters and corvettes have Afterburner ability now (through upgrades), you can boost their speed by 2 times for a short time (pressing "T"). This give your units a chance to escape nebula, explosion or other harzards, and you can also persue and destroy those fast escaping targets by manipulating this function. I think I've just made something very tactical in the stong strategic background of this mod :D
-- More 6-player maps (some maps also have different background)
-- Many reasearch items have been renamed, in a sci-fi style
-- Infiltrator and Marine Frigate can cloak now (through upgrades)
-- One new badge (NASA)
-- New music (Legacy has been replaced with Kockyou He)
-- Random ship name list is new, and destroyer class ships also have random names now
-- A glitch occurs in the last version, that is, after 22 game years the texture of ship scars may somehow all go wrong and looks really weird. It is fixed now, I believe, but I'm still not completely sure. At least I didn't see it again.
-- Now you can turn off the intro in custom deathmatch, if you don't like it
Example:
Vaygr afterburner flame is orange
while Hiigaran aferburner flame is hydrogen blue (just like their Engine colour)
new turrets for Vaygr heavy destroyer: two more flechette cannon on the side, and two laser turrets on the bottom
new turrets for Hiigaran destroyer series: two 2X pulsar turrets on the side, one on the bottom, and one flak cannon on the tail
I just wnder, will you keep working like this or learn more about modding in HW2?
I hope I could learn more. I've already learned some on Karos Graveyard since I began with this mod, but still about modding with Notepad... I find it hard to touch those models, even though I managed to modify some HOD hardpoints with HOD tools. And many HW tools doensn't support Win7 64bit so I had to copy files between different computers again and again in fact...OMG this really screws my patience. But anyway, yes I'll keep working like this.
This game does run on DX9 right? If it does they should start improving the graphics.

i think the capital ship and frigate's move speed are too fast and the hiigaran missiles can't catch them.
You're right! I'll change this situation either by enhancing the missile speed or by elonging the missile life time
I hope u can reduce the capital and frigate movement speed, because they are moving faster than fighter planes and easily outrun them
This is no longer a problem after 1.3 version, because after upgrades, fighters and corvettes are MUCH FASTER than those capital ships :)
hi, i just downloaded siplmex v 1.4 and, theres a little problem..... when im starting a game, it will always crashes while a loading a map... i found here a bugfix, but its for v 1.1
PLEASE HELP ME :D
1. after crash, go to Bin\Release folder and open Hw2.log immediately, copy everthing inside and send to me so that I can analyze your crash report
2. please tell me your skirmish settings
3. are you sure your Homeworld 2 is already 1.1 version and the mod is installed correctly? Do you have other mods in the same game directory?

2. - what exacly do yo mean ? which map, how many CPU ? and so on ?

I've analyzed your crash report, and I think you didn't set your and AI players' RACE correctly. This could happen if you have different mods already and the skirmish menu just remembered some wrong race settings which only exist in other mods. If I am right, to fix this problem, you just need to set your and other players' race settings again according to the optional box given in my mod. Remember there're only two races in this mod -- Hiigaran and Vaygr.
