To install the Remake mod, drop the EAW-Remake_Light folder inside the Mods folder.
For steam and GOG I have included shortcuts to launch the mod from, use these!
If you use steam, don't launch the mod through the regular game. Use the shortcut. Edit the shortcut if need be, but use it.
If you use any other game version than steam, apply the 4 gb patch to the games executable, this prevents the game from crashing by running out of memory.
Don't forget it! And also don't forget to enjoy your time playing the mod!

How can I play with the republic or cis? I do not see the option. I only see empire and rebellion in quick battles

May I ask which mysterious "Mods folder" you mean by that? I'm playing with Steam, and I can't find a folder called "Mods" in the Steam/game directory.
In "\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Empire at War" there is no "Mods" folder at all. So do you mean "\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content" instead, where Workshop mods are installed?

If you are going to be a saucy **** about not adding your mod to steam or nexus you could at least include good install directions.
What happens if your install directory is not the C drive? your shortcut wont work and most people wont understand why.
What happens if this is your first mod for EAW? You wont have a mods folder if you and will need to manually make one.
Do we need to launch the game in admin mode? Compatibility mode?
The game is crashing on the attempt to select the mod? Why? (There are two exe's in the steam version and you are using the wrong one)
Build your own installer, add this to Steam or learn to write good install directions...

How exactly do you use the 4gb Patch? I patched it to swfoc.exe, but that broke the exe.

Im running on steam, was able to get it installed and launched, but it crashes within a minute or 2. i even did the application patch in case that was the reason but it didnt fix it. any idea whats up?

When i open the shortcut it opens up the game then i see the screen of a star destroy and tie bomber that says empire at war remake then it crashes, do you know what it could be

Game crash when upgrading Thrawn from victory to admonitor in gc.
The shortcut doesn't work for me. It goes to the vanilla game. I use the steam version, so is there another way or is the modpath option usable?
Are you able to activate it through the mods tab in-game?

In the shortcut of the Light Version stands: C:\GOG Games\Star Wars - Empire At War Gold\EAWX\
But if you install GoG the path is: C:\GOG Galaxy\Games\Star Wars - Empire At War Gold\EAWX.
Dont know how to fix that the mod doesn't start for me.

For any players who can't launch the remake version of the game on GOG version (like me), I seem to have found the solution.
Right click on the GOG version shortcut and you will see something like:
""C:\GOG Games\Star Wars - Empire At War Gold\EAWX\swfoc.exe" force-d3d11 MODPATH=Mods/EAW-Remake-Light"
However, if you look carefully,you may spot that the command is not entirely correct as the name of the folder should be EAW-Remake_Light. The underscore is mistakenly typed into a hyphen. Changing the shortcut command
("C:\GOG Games\Star Wars - Empire At War Gold\EAWX\swfoc.exe" force-d3d11 MODPATH=Mods/EAW-Remake_Light)
makes it work for me.

(First, I have the "Game for Windows Gold Pack" CD version)
I can launch the game only without the 4GB patch, because when I apply it and launch the shortcut (GOG version), it gives me an Error message :
"A required security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed."
Does anyone have any solution ?
I am having ezactly the same problem. Love playing it just sadly crashes on big graphic items because i cant use the patch. Anyone got a solution?
game keeps crashing whilst playing rebels in skirmish has happened in 5 different maps now
Run the game in compatibility mode and as admin. Crashes are not normal and shouldn't happen.
