How is it after Tiberian Dawn if the First Tiberian War started in 2019?

Hi there, the source I posted states it at the late 90s. You're welcome to post the source of it starting in 2019. I am very interested into it.

Interesting. I will contact a few people to get clarification on this issue. The wiki must have the "late 90s" from somewhere. It is possible that the date was shifted since Renegade came out in 2002 and for the sake of being futuristic the date was then moved to 2020. Or it was an oversight. He mentions that Tiberium Wars got several dates wrong...

In any case, I am working with the C&C Wiki and the C&C bible.

Thank you very much :D

the comments on the video actually talk about that stuff, sort by newest and he actually touches on the source for that 90s date

The wiki and I have a friendly disagreement. The wiki cites Rade, Producer for FS and something similar for TS, as having said that TS takes place 30 years after TD ended. I put very little stock in developer intent and prioritise what’s in the games themselves. We just interpret the lore through different standards. I have a very recent video on this channel called The Epistemology of Fiction that goes into all this if you’re interested

another good comment
I think this was a clear sign of divergent intention in canon.

Tiberian Sun happen in 2030. The Tiberian Sun manual states that Kane had disappeared for decades and the Philadelphia had also been there for decades. That would imply a more than 20 years gap between the First and Second Tiberium War.

An article by Rade Stojsavljevic in 2000 said that Tiberian Sun was set 30 years after the end of the first game.

Then C&C Renegade put its event at 12 March 2020 with remark that Nod entered into the 21st century.

The ending of C&C 1 put the length of the conflict at more than 3 years

The GDI ion cannon was already there in Renegade meaning it was nearing the end of the First Tiberium War.

So that would put the First Tiberium at possibly 2017-2020.

I think that's the best precise number that could be said for the First Tiberium War.

The statement of exposing GDI in 2019 was very vague, as well as the 28 years of fighting Nod, which could mean that Granger only entered service in war against Nod in 2019, not that the war started in 2019. Same with the remark of Kane travelling between 1995 to 2019.

C&C Bible was said by someone in Westwood to be non-canon even when it was written. It was mostly not canon to Tiberian Sun much less any game after it.

I faintly remember also that Tiberian Sun takes place 30 years after Tiberian Dawn. I must have read it somewhere somewhen.

Tiberian Sun seems too technologically advanced to take place a mere 10 years after Tiberian Dawn.

I must say I definitely prefer the "late 90s" date over the 2020/2019 one. And not just because of my novel.

This is all pure gold thank you.

That we can definitely agree on. I have big respect towards his videos. I watched them some time ago and trusted the wiki. I was unaware of this disagreement.

Quote from the Tiberian Sun Manual:

"Datalogue of Past Conflict
Twentieth Century Conflict
The conflict between the Global Defence Initiative and the Brotherhood of Nod originated in the late twentieth century. GDI, now the most powerful military organisation on Earth, was formed forty-five years ago by the final act the United Nations Global Defence Initiative."

- End of quote

The Tiberian Sun manual clearly states that the first Tiberian conflict originated in the late 90s.

Zoar_Prime I consider that cannon. It must be. Then afterwards came the confusion.

Its all a bit messy but I was not wrong. However neither are you wrong. The canon is simply corrupt. Still the TS manual is about as strong as a source as it can possibly get. And its missing in his lore video.

I played TS back as a kid, had that manual and read it probably 30 times or so. I also had that Prima guide for it.

I can give you an answer that will feel satisfactory. I promise. Give me time. I consider Brett W.Sperry to be the Gene Roddenberry of C&C if that makes sense.

the part I remember most about the Tib Sun manual was all the errors in the unit descriptions, as well as the swapped images for them
Cyborg and Rocket Trooper, Missile Silo and Tiberium Waste Facility
that game was such an unfinished thing, EA forcing it out the door way before it was ready

I quite enjoy exploring all the little minutiae of C&C lore, and like to share the stuff I found, not trying to be argumentative
not critiquing your story, just responding to the one person who said 2019 and showing why we and others came to that conclusion
