ok guy if you coming to this mod in 2018 cuz you heard about it from somewhere and you want to play it for your self. GO HOME IT DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE NOR WILL IT EVER WORK AGAIN UNLESS YOU HAVE THE 2001 EDITION OF THE GAME WHICH IS LOST SO GO HOME

You can get the 2001 version on ebay for about $10-20, and IF you already HAVE PURCHASED the game on steam, it isn't illegal for you to download a past version online, AS LONG AS YOU LEGALLY OWN THE GAME ON STEAM AND HAVE ALREADY GIVEN VALVE MONEY.

Sierra is defunct anyways, so as long as you have given valve (who fully own the game) a purchase, there should be no problem with downloading a previous version of the game online via disc image.

You do realize the 2001 Blue Shift release is still on Steam today right.

Wow, thanks so much for posting this! Exactly what I needed! And didn't dare to hope it would exist. Especially having to contend with the CD-ROM being in the drive is at least as much a pain in the *** as it was back in the day. I wonder though how this works with the Blue Shift v1.1 (1.0.1) patch..?

PSA: Apply the v1.1 patch for Blue Shift before using this conversion tool! Otherwise your game might crash loading the ba_yard5 section like 1.5 hours into the game or so. However I wonder how the music playback works with this Unlocked patch? I'm asking especially since I'd like to use this:
Moddb.com
which comes as MP3s to be put into the "media" folder. I'm using the WON version, which might complicate things...

Thanks for the warning, it seems you WILL get a crash, "Host_Changelevel2: Couldn't Load map ba_yard5" unless you first update Blue Shift before using Unlocked.

Worth noting there's a zipped update for Blue Shift here, just need to extract and overwrite files
Moddb.com

Also about the music, it can work, using the UCyborg patch and placing the music mp3s in the appropriate folders.

It says that I'm missing a GCF file, but I have Blue Shift installed. Do I need to have Half-life installed so that it works?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to create a shortcut that launches directly into Blue Shift. Since Opposing Force can have a shortcut and that's essentially a game mode, I figured the same would be possible for this.

Just create a shortcut for the hl.exe file. Right click, go to properties and then at the end of the target add: -game bshift_unlocked. You can can change the icon by changing the icon from the properties tag and finding a ".ico" file

Why do I keep getting the message "Node Graph out of date. Rebuilding" when a new map is loaded?

Applying this patch makes the game completely impassable. The map ba_yard5a converts WRONG and it becomes impassable anymore! Dr. Rosenberg will always die without any reason on this map. So, do not use it! Never!

Nobody should still care about this but if you still wanted to install this:

1. Find a "half-life blue shift.gcf" file. Should be relatively easy to find.
2. Place the file into your "<Steam Directory>/steamapps" folder.
3. Launch the installer. Select "I own Blue Shift on Steam" and select your "steamapps" directory I mentioned earlier. Proceed with installation.

There's no point in installing this since an extracted version is available for download. (https://www.moddb.com/games/half-life-blue-shift/downloads/blue-shift-unlocked-game-dlls-and-patched-maps)
