A re-write of the Quake-2 Engine, featuring enhanced graphics, expanded multiplayer capabilities and support for the official Quake2 Expansion Packs.
Contains all files updated to version 1.42, including optional high-resolution textures and map relighting.
Does not contain the proprietary files necessary to play Quake2 or it's expansion packs; in order to play the main game you will need to copy the PAK.pk2 files from the baseq2 directory of a legitimate installation.

Sadly, it doesn't work on my end (even did a new fresh clean installation of the game and its expansion packs from Steam), gives this error instead (after trying to make the cache for the models): Dl.dropboxusercontent.com

Alright, now I got the game to run.
Unfortunately, I also tried Ground Zero and the elevators are still missing (once again, installed everything fresh off Steam). :/

According to the download description, they should be. Of course you can resort to cheating to get past the parts where there should be an elevator, but some other gameplay crucial scripting parts aren't triggered either so it gets a bit dicey later on.

But yeah that aside, I'm having some trouble with it as well, I can't even really get it to launch. It validates all the maps and seems to crash when it's creating the models cache...

I got the main game working when I made Ma1ice's modifications to the config file, but sadly the expansions still suffer from the aforementioned bugs. :|
Ah, okay, I didn't see the config modifications until now, I'll give them a try :D
Not sure how you'd fix the expansions though, I don't have those, I've just got an old copy of the original CD. I'm sure with some digging though it's probably doable. I'd take a look myself but I don't really know how to edit files for Quake, I never really tried modding it :/

Nevermind, got it...explosions look off though strange square thing pops up, but otherwise works fine.
same thing for like windows, railgun shots, water it all just looks funny.

The only workaround i have found to play with the "Hunk_ALLoc overflow" error is to rename or delete the files super_shotgun.pk2 and machine_gun.pk2 located in baseq2 folder.

before you start berserker delete all cfg files is q2basic folder its a bug and all mission packs custum levels work

Okay, I've got the thing to run but I can't seem to play the main story. It keeps saying "Couldn't load maps/base1.bsp" I'm not good a this sorta thing so any ideas how to get around this? (assuming I don't figure it out in time)
