we are running the game off the source engine, so all our sound has to be in a wav format

but altough i am wondering if the source engine is capable of running these uber graphics but i could be wrong

Actually, as far as the human ear in concerned it's no better. An MP3 would be many times smaller even with a ridiculously high, lossless bitrate anyway.
