This mod replaces all default Half-life Source textures with the ones upsclaed through Topaz Labs AI Gigapixel software making the classic game look sharp and modern, while keeping true to the original aesthetic. The archive now contains upscale for both textures and HD models. The archive also includes HD scientists (ported from PS2 version of HL) and fix for missing weapons sounds in HD content.

Для этого мода требуется игра Half-Life: Source, которая технически представляет собой просто усовершенствованную версию игры Half-Life с помощью движка Source (на котором так же сделан Half-Life 2), который поддерживает физику, рэгдоллы, улучшенные эффекты и больше.
Installation:
Note: You need a Steam version of this game.
1) Extract hl1_hd into Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life 2
2) Launch Half-Life Source
3) Enable HD content in settings
4) Restart the game
5) For the better experience I recommend turning on ambient occulsion for the game in NVIDIA settings (don't know if there's one for AMD).

4) Перезапустить игру.
5) Для более лучшей графики я рекомендую включить ambient occulsion в панели NVIDIA (не знаю если такое же есть в AMD картах).
Known bugs:
1) - At the Lambda Core level, when Freeman approaches the door, the scientist must open it and let Freeman teleport into the world of Zen. The scientist does not open the door. This bug is due to new models of scientists from PS2 version of Half-Life.
Solution options:
-Turn off HD content in the game settings, load the old save game, enter the door, save, turn HD content back on and load the new save game.
-Just load the Xen chapter (in the new game you can choose)
-Return the original HL:S HD scientists - in the folder hl1_hd\models delete all scientist files and load the old save game.
2) Another bug - some textures reacting incorrectly to the footsteps and bullet hits (like footsteps sound in ventilations). This is because I had to generate all vmt from scratch to add bumpmaps. And I only separated metal textures from others when I was generating them, so non-metal textures have default surfaceprop, many of which still need to be manually replaced to the correct surfaceprop.
Changelog:
0.84: Replaced some ugly textures (office floors, ventilations and more) with upscaled HD alternatives. Upscaled further some key enemy models and added improved normalmaps/phong materials to them.
0.83: Fixed many surfaceprops (not all) to make textures react correctly to footsteps and bullet hits. Reduced specularity to non-metal textures.
0.82: Added improved textures for Xen with added baked normalmaps and bumpmap/environment map. Removed upscale for computers/displays as it looked too ugly and out of place. Reduced specularity so the textures look less oily.
0.81: Added bumpmap to all textures, except Xen (uses autogenerated normalmaps with alpha channel). So the size is now 4.38 GB .
0.8: Added detailmap, envmap and bumpmap for metal textures. Fixed some dimmed lamps. Photoshopped few ugly textures.
0.7: Added 16x upscale
Update 0.6 (for 8x upscale): I upscaled these textures 2 times added a bit of baked normamap, downscaled 4 times and then upscaled 2 times. This made textures less blurry as you can see: Media.moddb.com
0.5: I fixed all multiframed animated textures, so buttons, switches, displays etc. should now show animations. Also fixed animation for conveyor.
0.44: Added better looking train.
0.43: Replaced rocks textures to the ones from PS2 version of the game. Added upscale for few more models.
0.42: Fixed tank textures.
0.41: Added upscaled textures for all transparent textures.
0.4: Added textures for Xen.
0.3: Added mipmaps to the textures, so there's less aliasing, added 2x upscale for HD models, used different conversion format so the file size is now much more smaller (332 MB) and this also fixed this bug: media.moddb.com
0.2: Fixed scalings for many textures.

I don't need a significantly better computer for this do I? Using pretty much a normie laptop with integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000, 5 gb ram, 2.5 ghz processor that can run the base game smooth as butter

It's working with Half-Life Resized maps mod (which was meant for Garry's) in HL Source Steamcommunity.com. So yes should work.

Hello, I am a user of this mod and have noticed that sounds are missing for various scripted events and some entities. I have enjoyed the looks, so thank you for that, but is it possible to fix the sound issues in a later update?
Maybe it's because of new scientists models. They appear to cause some bugs. I noticed that when I did full playthrough. Just delete new scientists models (I added instruction in description).

If you're concerned about all of the bugs just install the source fixed mod. It still works with the upscaled textures

Textures that are supposed to be see through like gates, railways, fences etc are black inbetween the metal. Like the normally empty spaces in a fence or gaurd rail now have a brushed black texture. Any idea how to fix this?
