It is the year 2084. You control a secret organisation charged with defending Earth from a brutal alien enemy. Build up your bases, prepare your team, and dive head-first into the fast and flowing turn-based combat.

UFO: Alien Invasion is a squad-based tactical strategy game in the tradition of the old X-COM PC games, but with a twist. Our game combines military realism with hard science-fiction and the weirdness of an alien invasion. The carefully constructed turn-based system gives you pin-point control of your squad while maintaining a sense of pace and danger.

Over the long term you will need to conduct research into the alien threat to figure out their mysterious goals and use their powerful weapons for your own ends. You will produce unique items and use them in combat against your enemies. If you like, you can even use them against your friends with our multiplayer functionality.

UFO: Alien Invasion. Endless hours of gameplay — absolutely free.

The game takes a lot of inspiration from the X-COM series by Mythos and Microprose. However, it's neither a sequel nor a remake of any X-COM or other commercial title. What we as a team wanted to make is a brand new experience that tries to surpass the quality of games from 1992, rather than simply recreate them with flashier graphics.

We also believe that open-source projects don't need to be disorganised or badly-managed. We work together in a friendly and professional way, with a clear vision for a game that we know is worth playing.

Can't even get it to launch. Apparently the dependencies on the Linux version are older than the pre-installed packages from Ubuntu 12.10. When I install the older ones, it hangs up. I'm using an older Dell Inspiron 530 with 4GB of Ram, and a dual-core at 2.5 GHz, give or take a hertz or two. Where do I send the log?

great game! i ran into a few bugs on while playing :P lol 1) when my interceptors clash with UFO it lags badly sometimes! 2) some civilians when killed just stand there with their head on teh ground XD kinda funny tho not really a problem. lol this is a great game and has a lil step up over the original XCOM. great work guys the detail in research is amazing! tech tree is great! lol i also saw some familiar weapons in the game too XD (halo mabye?) i love the auto-battle function altho i dont understand why certain UFO battles wont allow it. but thats okay might take the fun out of playing it anyways.

To top it off the maps are great also! some open and some real close quarters, im still playing to beat the full campain (great btw) :) this is really a great peice of work!

Sorry for the late reply. We don't check this page too often. You'll find more response over on the game's page. 1) has been fixed. 2) has been fixed, I think. Thanks for playing.

The game looks like a great improvement over the old X-Com, which I loved. My only problem is how to keep the game in the full-screen environment. When playing in full-screen mode, when the game switches from the strategic map to the tactical one, I am booted out of the game. When I play the game in windowed mode, it isn't a problem, but I'd like to play the game in full-screen mode. I've got win 7, 32 bit, running on i7 dual core with 4 gigs ram, and nvidia 250 with 1 g of video ram.
