This mod alters the, IMO console-oriented, HUD of the game into a smaller and more subtle HUD. It is specifically designed for 16:9 resolutions, but it may also work just fine on other aspect ratios. Give it a try! This mod only changes the single-player HUD. I've checked the server browser multiple times and nobody seems to be playing this game online. So it looks like a waste of time and effort to make it work in multiplayer too. This mod also removes the little square that's always in view, showing you where to go. I personally can't stand having a floating icon on my screen all the time, hence it's removed. So you might have to do a bit more exploring to find out where you have to go next. When you get close to your destination, a circle will still appear to guide you closer.

INSTALLATION
- If you haven't done so already, update the game to v1.1.
- Extract the zip-archive to the directory where Soldier of Fortune: Payback v1.1 is installed.
- Play the game!
CHANGES
- Objective-guiding square and arrow removed
- Objective-guiding circle reduced in size
- Objective-distance indication removed
- Damage indicators reduced in size + shortened fade-out time
- Crosshair reduced to a dot
- Objectives-notifications less intrusive and moved to the top-left of the screen
- Subtitles less intrusive and moved to the bottom of the screen
- Interaction-text reduced in size with a small degree of transparency
- Game updates (Objective added, Game saved, etc.) moved to the top of the screen
Status bar less intrusive by
- Removing the background
- Removing the stance icon
- Moving grenade-count to the bottom-left of the screen
- Moving weapon statistics to the bottom-right of the screen
- Making all elements partly transparant
