ModDB Contest Model "Shadrian"

Design/Model/Skin/Rig: Plüss Roland ( roland@rptd.ch )

This model has been made for the ModDB contest for creating an ultimate player model. The model is not finished yet since I lacked the time ( exams ). Hence the model is put under the restrictive CC license for the time being. The Model homes in at 8'000 triangles and possesses a high resolution mesh which is not included in the archive. The normal map is generated using DENormGen and ready to use. The mesh itself is fully rigged and has some sample poses ( see renders ) but since the .obj format does not support rigged meshes I could not export them.

The original .blend file is way too big to include so I need to find a better export format ( any ideas? ). The skin is work in progress. The main idea behind this player model had been to create a monster type animal which herits certain body parts from real world animals.

The renders had all been made using the DENormGen tool.

Background

Some years ago, on one of their research trips to Shadra-11, one of the earth like planets in the neighbor solar system, the research team around Françis Miller found a rather particular creature in the jungle area not far away from the drop zone. Having the look like a merge of individual animals the small creature attracted immediately their attention. They took it back to their research base on earth for examination. The young creature got named 'Shadrian' after its home planet. Some years later the research still is under way but the creature kept hard on hiding its secrets about its extraordinary physical abilities. Like all child animals this one too kept on growing, especially if fed with living prey. More and more the cute shape of the creature changed to a rather daunting little beast. Security measures had been increased so they can safely study the creature further. But as did change its body so did its mind. Soon the creature grew smart enough to trick its keepers. Around this time the activities caught also the interest of the military. Such a deadly and silent creature fit into their plans tightly. A month later the facility had been locked down by the government. The official statement mentioned a problem in the facility imposing a huge security risk that could not be neglected anymore. The researches are gone as is their beloved specimen. Up in the highest ranks the future has been already set out.

But first the new "achievement" had to be tested...

Nice work DragonLord. Too it was inconviently timed for you, so you couldn't finish the texture :( Nevertheless, ace work there.
