Tired of Controllers crashing your game in areas like Rostok and Dead City with dBodyvalidstates? Wanna bring some payback on them for ruining your mood? Then this is the little mod for you:
Instructions:
1. Open the gamedata folder in Lost Alpha's main folder
2. Add the config folder from this fix in the gamedata folder
3. Now hunt down sum controllers stalker!!
*No new game required, but this probably only works on Lost Alpha Directors Cut 1.4007. Keep in mind that other mods may have a conflicting file, so back these up before trying. (LBs compilation doesnt have conflicting files, i think).
So what does it actually do?
Based on my old experimental fix for AMK, i think this works in LADC aswell: this mod will prevent Controllers from trying to melee other mutants and CTDing the whole Zone in the process. Beware, this fix makes the Controllers neutral to all other mutants, so now they will solely dedicate their attention towards YOU and other stalkers!!

Never had a crash about, how I can see if a crash is controller-related?
When your game crashes to desktop, and the LADC xray-log shows you an error with dBodyvalidestate, such as:

In my case this always seems to be happen when theres a controller around. It's also noticeable when lots of mutants run around and the controllers psi effects start to act up (theres a spot in the great metal factory and dead city that do this). A couple of angry mutants run amok, and then they will start to look for the controller. Then the framerate will tank really low for a fews seconds, before crashing the game completely.

Love the fact that controllers are a significantly bigger threat now because other mutants don't damage them anymore, however sadly it didn't prevent the occasional crashing for me, I feel it's the same unfortunately.
EDIT: woopsie, it seems it makes the merc mission with Sakarov's package crash a lot, as soon as I put the .ltx file out of my gamedata, no more crashes anymore.
Was that the mission in Dead City? I don't think I had troubles with it, as it should resolve any crashes with controllers there, but did it interfere with the mission somehow?
You know the mission when you escape after you and doc gets emprisonned. But honestly Lost Alpha is just a hot mess lol, devs abandonned it in an acceptable but severely unfinished status. I'm just waiting for Stalker 2 at this point hehe.
Thx , it helped a lot. It kept crashing in Grand metal factory when all the beast were attacking controller. That is a proof that authors didn't bother to optimze the game. That's a shame. Lucky that there are people like you who know a thing or two about what to edit in a file for this game.
Thanks, yea the factory is where this particular crash was very common for me. It's a pretty old bug from what I remember, carried over from Stalker SOC and/or it's AMK mod. I'm glad it helps!
