A little addon for requesting off-map fire support and reinforcement.
InFiReSS - Integrated Field Recon & Support System
We all know the story about the lone space marine of Doom who has been destined to fight alone againts the infinite armies of Hell. But what about the remnant UAC combat support units barricated in their field HQs and command posts?
With this addon you have the opportunity to contact them with the latest long-range InFiReSS utility. Call in various types of support missions for different amounts of energy cells!
Offensive - Fire - Support:
- Classic artillery fire support: Calls in three precision HE howitzer shells to the designated target area. For open areas only! Costs 150 energy cells.
- Incendiary strike: Calls in five rounds of incendiary shells. Less accurate, ideal against large number of soft targets. Open areas only! Costs 300 energy cells.
- Tactical nuke: Lay waste to the battlefield with a single tactical nuclear warhead! Don't forget to keep distance from the target area! Obviously only for open areas. Costs 400 cells.
Reinforcement Packs:
- Supply drop: With the latest UAC teleport technology our combat support batch is capable to "beam out" a small amount of random supply that the HQ can spare. Ammo, armor, medkits... You name it. Beware, the goods are tend to stuck into walls! Costs 150 cells.
- Marine reinforcements: Need more boots on the ground? Do not hesitate to request reinforcements! Your brothers in arms will be deployed ASAP - randomly armed with rifles, shotguns or chainguns. Two marines can join you per request. Costs 200 cells.
- UAC Heavy Combat Mech deployment: Get ready to aquire the latest toy of the Marine Corps! Bring havoc with heavy machine guns, plasma cannons and rocket launchers of the Heavy Combat Mech! Since this asset wasn't designed for close quarter combat, it is advised to avoid deployment in narrow corridors and tight areas. Costs 300 cells.
The binocular spawns with 50% possibility instead of the chainsaw, but you can give/summon by the "give/summon binocular" console command.
Available under slot 8.
With the dual wield button you can switch between different support modes.
The sprinting is a bit buged but basically it's playable. Try to change mode, if you can't run.
Tested with GZDoom 4.3.3 and Brutal Doom v21.

I'm glad you like it! Wasn't entirely sure if anybody will be interested. It was kinda like a little love-project of mine.
All mods and labors are precious. I liked the idea and its working good. Mechs are recieved some love with your mod btw and will b fun to use it against hordes of hell :)
My idea is maybe it would use some special tokens to use support instead of plasma ammo? Something like tokens can has respawn of odds with one item. 2 tokens for suply drop,4 tokens for marine recruit,6 tokens for Mech recruit and 10 tokens for tactical nukes for example.
Sure, could happen later. I see how is it possible. Maybe I can add an optional addon for this version.
Its just my idea but it will be better to be independent to any ammo. Special tokens for binocular sounds better to me
In the other hand it might ruin the balance. I mean if you still have the original amount of cells on your hand (so you are able to fire the BFG) AND even call in fire strike... Sounds a bit op.
My plasma and BFG uses different ammo type in my game but I understand your vanilla style concers. It was just an idea so next version might be fixing of sprint in tactical mode
Yeah, for some reason it is glitched a bit. Now I'm working around the VietDoom weapon pack and then I'll investigate the issue.
does 1.1 included with sprint fix?
I tought that I've found a way. It kinda worked but then made the whole GZDooM crash if I tried to sprint after called in the nuke. So not yet... Sorry. I'm out of ideas.

Hey, I think there is a problem with your mod, when I play with brutal doom 21v, flashlights_bd.pk3, UDV 2.13, and your mod, it says this:

I'm pretty late BUT GOD if i searched for a mod like this for along time, i always thought that marines were cool but pretty useless since they appear like only a few times to free and it's kind of cool to have them side with you and help, same goes for the other features like the mech and bombs
I'm glad you like it! Looking back from now it rather seems like the personal challange was the main aspect creating this, not the playability/added gameplay value.
But still, this addon is indeed a little piece of my heart - with all of its flaws.
