Expands the list of choices for stalker and mutant pop, going above and below the defaults with more granular choice between them
Expands the list of choices for stalker and mutant pop, going above and below the defaults with more granular choice between them
Idea and motivation thanks to other expanded pop mods such as LoneWolfLazarus's recent one, if you just want larger choices theirs by default goes larger - but I made this to be slightly easier to modify yourself and with more granular choices that I'd like to play with personally
Thanks for the reference dude, much appreciated. :)
Without sound lazy, you've saved me a job haha! ;)
EDIT: I never knew you could add more pop options, great thinking on your behalf! I'll download yours and use your file to check out how you did it! Sooo ima say first download! :P
thanks! I looked at yours and was inspired to try it, I originally wanted it to just be a slider but I couldn't get it to work so I just added a bunch more options instead, it's ugly but it seems to work fine
Try this for your larger pop scale addon. Was thinking of uploading it myself but you may as well have the honors of Version 2.0, I may add it at a later date in future myself if I can think of anything else to tinker with over time. But in terms of the slider, keep at it man, it's all going to a good cause. :)
Here's what would of been my new version, but with thanks to your new found knowledge for me. I'll upload it here for you to change your file at your leisure, or for anyone else experienced with editing the files to tinker with personally, here it is:
{ id= "alife_mutant_pop" ,type= "list" ,val= 2 ,def= 0.75 ,c {0.2}, {0.25}, {0.3}, {0.4}, {0.5}, {0.6}, {0.7}, {0.75}, {0.8}, {0.9}, {1.0}, {1.25}, {1.5}, {1.75}, {2} , {3}, {4}, {5}} ,no_str= true }, { id= "alife_stalker_pop" ,type= "list" ,val= 2 ,def= 0.5 ,c {0.2}, {0.25}, {0.3}, {0.4}, {0.5}, {0.6}, {0.7}, {0.75}, {0.8}, {0.9}, {1.0}, {1.25}, {1.5}, {1.75}, {2} , {3}, {4}, {5}} ,no_str= true },
This is your addon page so if you want this here or want it privatized that's up to you. But ima leave it there anyway. Feel free to delete or keep it on your page as you will my mate. :)
Oh and one last thing, to all people who use up to 4 - 5. If you play it on those, I haven't tested it, there's a possibility it will crash as soon as you start a new game due to the massive influx of new Stalkers and Mutants. Tis' up to thee.
Happy hunting yo!
nah I think ours do different things, they both make sense, your larger values work well with your squad tweaks and mine is more like an expanded base list for people interested in doing their own tweaks, I'll leave these here if anyone wants to combine the two themselves though
No worries man. :) Best wishes.
I've sponsored our addons for those who play S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Anomaly on my Discord server, I've posted our addons, you're more than welcome to join SMT you've already shown great initiative and intuitive thinking. Two minds are better than one in my opinion and maybe we could work together to create some other cool addons, for ourselves and then eventually everyone once they're working, it'd be a cool little thing too if we managed to get a little addon team going over time. Working together to make a more playable and immersive Anomaly. Maybe even teach each other new stuff in the editing/modding field while we're at it! Anyway, should you ever want to join even if not now. Feel free to drop me a message on ModDB and I'll send you an invite. :)
Best wishes mate and kind regards from the Chapter Master Lazarus Skywolf of the Sky Wolves Chapter (Universal Gamer Clan, UGC).
I've been playing with increased population factors myself this week and I've seen some interesting results! I've found that setting STALKER pop factor above 1.5 can have significant framerate penalties and some weird stuff starts to happen.
The screenshots linked in this comment are a good indicator of the kind of oddness you will see from time to time on the higher settings (3+):

This information was for CoC, but is apparently very relevant for Anomaly.
As for performance... when running Anomaly on a New Game with STALKER and mutant pop factors at 3, my framerate decreased from a fairly steady 144fps (capped) at the highest settings to averages between 50-70 FPS, with occasional dips to 25-30 fps at the highest settings. It was the same a couple hours in, so it wasn't just the initial spawn impact. I am on a pretty good rig (Ryzen 7 3700X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 2070 Super) so I can only imagine the impact on weaker systems.
Anyways, my point is - be careful with cranking population factors up too much, you might get some unexpected results and some very poor performance :D For my own hardware and experience I've found 1.5 to be a nice compromise. There are a lot more STALKERs and mutants roaming around, but I stay a lot closer to my 144hz target and the weird stuff is rare.
Can anyone comment on how this mod on high values compares to project Kaos mod ?
Problem I have with Kaos is that some areas have way too many spawns and other have way too little. Well, that and the abysmal performance and stability issues.
Started a new game with mutants at 1.0 and Stalker at 1.75 and I can't tell any difference between this and vanilla unfortunately.
I would say the spawns are only about 10% of what I get with KAOS at 0.5.
Hey hey
I tried having the mutant setting at 0 but there are still mutants running around. Is this a bug that can't be fixed like mutants being bound to certain spawns or does 0 not mean 0 and it actually means just above but is 0 to mean lwest setting?
Cheers
i have encountered a crash just by trying to change the settings mid game even on a fresh copy of anomaly
the settings in the main menu work fine, but if i try to go to the settings mid game it crashes every time
would like to know if you think its fixable
After some more testing I'm convinced that this mod doesn't do anything at all. I've run 0.1 mutants 0.2 stalker with Kaos and there doesn't seem to be any impact on spawns.
My goal was to have Kaos but with reduced spawns to improve stability. No luck so far lol.
can we haz more options ? 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 for stalkers ?
is this gonna get updated to RC18
Can you update this for the latest version? I liked the no mutant option!
Game crashes on startup after installing it...
can you please update it so it would be compatible with 1.5.1?
This is absolutely essential. PLEASE update it!
