News: 31.12.2018 - Adjusted spawn points. Now they are farther away from the map borders.
This package aims to address the deficiencies of Native random battle scenes, namely: unrealistic terrain, small maps, unpassable mountains, unpassable rivers, bad and small forests, ugly flora etc.
Important: Not save game compatible. You'll need to start anew.
Improved Battle Scenes
What to expect:
The pack contains a big number of manually generated scenes with carefully chosen terrain types, hill height, size, flora and river placement. The whole point is to fix all the annoying scenes that Warband throws at you by default. All the scenes are maximum sized, on 2-meter polygons. It includes the following scene types:
1. 25 plains scenes (out of which 5 are river scenes);
2. 10 mountain scenes (assumed by the game as plain scenes, for now). The terrain is practical for both infantry and cavalry, and the annoying factor is definitively removed;
3. 10 plains forest scenes;
4. 11 steppe scenes (wanted 10, but I'm bad at maths);
5. 5 steppe forest scenes;
6. 11 snow scenes;
7. 5 snow forest scenes;
8. 10 desert scenes;
9. 5 desert forest scenes.
Since the number of scenes is very big, it will be hard for them to get old. In my tests, it's almost as having a better random terrain generator.
Please follow the installation instructions provided in the download link.
Thank you very, very much!
No problem. :)
Right now, I have identified two maps which happen to spawn the enemy right by you. I will update this section with a simple hotfix as soon as possible.
Hotfix released. Please redownload.
In dialog it seems the player is far away from the NPC. So the camera "travels" quite a distance across the scene when talking to NPCs. Is this a known issue or is it something on my end?
You need to start a new game.
That was on a new save. I'm attempting to make a patch that adds this to an existing mod of mine, am I wrong in thinking that the SceneObj files along with the scenes.txt and scripts.txt are the only files I need to include in the patch?
The only modified .py files were module_scenes and module_scripts + the .scn files. I really cannot reproduce your issue though. You need to know that I tested the scenes with Native, so it might be the mod conflicting with something.
Edit: What are you using for meeting scenes? Is it the regular dialogue scenes provided by Native, or did you choose one added by me?
YOU ARE A GOD THANK YOU
Can you release a version with .txt install? Compiling this with mods that doesn't give out source code, it's a pain!
I fear it will cause issues. You can try compiling in a Native copy and then extract the needed codes from the .txt files.
News: The forest battles run very smooth now, and the stuttering issue is gome completely. Also, I have fixed the strange behavior of troops while climbing uphill on some maps. If you have already installed this, just replace the old .sco files with new ones (no need to mess with scripts once more).
Thank you so much for doing this. I haven't tried it yet but am looking forward to being much less annoyed when fighting in the mountains!
If this works well, I would ask your permission to include this in my mod, Calradia 1050 A.D.: Mercenary Uprising.
It's kind of late for an answer, but you do not need permission to use this. If you still plan on adding these, I may suggest manually moving the spawn points a little bit away from the map borders for each scene individually (you can't do that by copy-pasting an already edited scene, because each one had AI meshes). I would like to do that myself, but I do not have the time as of now.
Hmm.. I'd love to use this. I like the mod Custom Troop Tree by MitchellD but it is for the native warband with the unrealistic hills and slopes.. No one would choose to fight there not even in real life. So thanks for this mod. I'm gonna try and install it somehow.
**** it.. I have crippling depression and I gave up
Yeah, it might be hard for those who do not have enough experience. At some point I'll just pack everything into a mod that everyone will be able to download.
Everythings cool except that the roads on the map become 'Steppe' Scenes. I wondered why I was suddenly fighting in the steppes lol.
great work! Would be better if it can be ported to other mods
Either the mountain scenes are the same garbage as in the native, or I wasnt able to install your mod correctly. Which is not surprising: searching the required version of Python, searching information and finaly write the path to the environment, and then edit the code - 5 hours wasted.
Two new things i see in this mod: terrain normals, and sky. Thats all, meshes the same.
