This requires the D64ifier Monsters Module! It is just a simple optional sprite replacer that makes a few changes to the appearances of some of the monsters.
The changes are as follows:
- Pistol zombies have much paler skin and darker brown shirts
- Shotgun zombies have much paler skin and darker grey shirts
- Imps have mouths
- Hellknights no longer have horns and their eyes are hidden, like their D3 counterparts
After the release of D64ifier MONSTERS v1.0, is this add-on still necessary?
This add-on was never necessary. It is only a way to change-up the appearance of just a few monsters for people who are interested in that. Monsters v1.0 is always going to be "purist-friendly", meaning all the monsters will retain their N64 appearance aside from the barons having green blood instead of red. This Alternate Monster Appearances pack is 100% optional, for people who would like to give a few monsters a different look than their N64 versions.
Is there one without the Hell Knight change as well? (I actually like the change, but it to be truly Doom 64'd DOOM 1 & 2, it'd be the variants of DOOM 64 looking like they all appeared from 1 & 2.)
In the monsters module, all the monsters retain their N64 appearance aside from the barons having green blood instead of red. The only time the hellknights' appearance is changed is if you add this optional alternate appearances pack.
If only there was an armless variant of the Cacodemon, I've kind of grown tired of the one with the arms and shackles.
