As much as I love the ambiance in this game (big part of the atmosphere obviously) I despise the background rumbling games use to fill gaps in the soundscape. This game doesn't need that rumbling and Jet Engine Wind when dynamic wind and distant sound effects create a sense of place perfectly.
IF YOU FIND OTHER VERY LOUD CONSTANT SOUNDS LEAVE A COMMENT I WILL HUNT THEM DOWN
I replaced most of the non-directional ambiance with a silent audio file; I highly recommend using the JSRS' Sound Overhaul to increase situational awareness. Now rather than your hearing being impaired by constant wind coming from nowhere, you will be able to hear exactly where ambient sounds are coming from. I also recommend enabling dynamic wind as those wind effects increase the sense of place because they actually seem to come from somewhere.
I've been playing with these effects for a long while and haven't found any issues with the exception of a weird effect when starting fires; I'm not sure if that's from my files though.
I also included a significantly dampened Great Swamp Generator sound cause Good Lord.
Installation:
1) unzip file
2) drag gamedata to your primary Anomaly directory
3) Play!
Why is this voted so low? Thanks for the mod
Must have mod
Awesome Mod. Thanks for this!
The weird really loud static-electric sound is default-- in Anomaly at least.
Thank you!
Finally the upper neighbour drilling the ******* wall sounds louder than the constant background wind. I would still like to turn it down more.
Is this referring to that weird 8-bit, underwater 'ambient' sound that's constantly warbling away in the distance somewhere? It's driving me nuts, feels like I'm underwater. My £100 headphones are crying because they are ashamed.
Apparently, it's something to do with the HRTF not working properly with openAL? Anyway, I'll try this mod, because I've tried Grok's Sound mod but it didn't seem to fix it. I guess maybe it's because it says it's for 1.51 and I'm obviously playing Anomaly 1.5.2. Didn't think a sound file would matter, but it seems to be some kind of editing program that tries to bypass the openAL.ini. I dunno.
