Is there a way to get this add-on to work alongside the standard flashlight, rather than replace it? Because while I really like the way this mod casts shadows, I also really like the way the original reflects off surfaces (most noticed when using specular/normal maps).

Really don't see the interest of using a flashlight in a non-immersive mod like d4t. I mean you just shoot things.

What standard flashlight? I can't get the one in BDv21 to work at all?

If you have GZDoom 4.1+ version - you need use same flashlight version.

Sorry my question was more about the actual BDv21 mod. I thought it had a flashlight already? If it does, I can't get it to work and hence am relying on your mod which works great btw!

well, actually, bdv21 has its own flashlight, but it will only work with dynamic lights. if this mod here doesn't work for ya, try the flashlights v2

How do I enable dynamic lights?

U can find flashlights v2 here in moddb. And to enable dynamic lights, go to the main menu, open options, then display options, opengl options and dynamic light options. This path should work both for gzdoom and zandronum

It already works, if you bind both flashlights to separate keys and press both keys, the light will be intensified. The problem with this one though is it doesn't alert enemies. Don't see the point of using two flashlights however.

Flashlight working without Brutal Doom v21.

Example:

I recommend rename "BD:BE Flashlight Standalone"

Hi, This mod doesn't work with GZdoom 4.0.0, in 3.5.0, it does work, but in latest, nothing. Any chance you can update this to work with the latest version of GZdoom please?

I tried everything I can think of to get this working in 4.0.0, but it simply refuses to function. But I do like the mod, just want to use the latest version of Gzdoom.

There is a new version of Gzdoom out, still no luck on getting this to work, it does show up as an option to rebind the key in customise keys, so the mod does register. also there was an issue with version 4.0.0 64bit, but it runs the game with the mod enabled with 4.1.0 64bit. But the flashlight doesn't light.
So this only works with GZdoom 3.5.0 to 3.7.0. currently

Just thought you should know. and hopefully correct the issue. as its a better flashlight then the BD version, more natural and more useful.

Thanks for making this.

hi again, do you have an update to this? as I really do miss using your flashlight. I'm currently using another, but I would reuse this one once you have it fixed for gzdoom 4.1.0+

Thanks in advance.

Awesome, I can confirm this to work with GZdoom 4.1.2 (current of time of writing)

I also tested this with gzdoom 3.8.0, so it works with 3.5.0 and above, so you don't need to have two files in the zip upload.

I'm just restarted the game, but I can easy restart again, to use this flashlight mod, as to, me, its a very good natural flashlight to use.

Thank you for fixing this.

Something is bothering me.
The standard flashlight from brutal mod alerts ennemies when they are lighted. This one doesn't.
which mean we could just keep the flashlight on all the time. Absolutly no reason to toggle it off.

The flashlight is very off the center, for example, if you go right into a wall, the beam will show up way too to the right

Yeah I noticed this too. Is there a way to adjust its 'centering' (plus or minus X offset sort of thing)? It seems like it's got some sort of offset to the player's right.

I think it's supposed to imitate a flashlight strapped to the right shoulder, pointed at the center of the screen. This placement makes shadows more noticable and effective. but of course several different options wouldn't hurt.
