Description:
As the sequel to 2004's Asteroid Base, 2008's original version of Asteroid Base II was larger then its predecessor by introducing new areas and at the time new mapping techniques which saw their development and sophistication in maps that were done after Asteroid Base II (namely: U.S.S Leonov - "The Animal" and the Battlestar Aurelia maps).
Unfortunately, Elite Force was not capable to handle this, not to mention the RPG-X modification that even decreased limits even further, therefor making it impossible to successfully start and play this map (amongst other larger maps, including the Atlantis map which is being regarded as 'stock' within the RPG-X communities). For that reason, a lot of content was ultimately cut from the original Release ONE.
Since Jedi Academy has by itself more space for mappers to do their thing and not bound by a poorly programmed modification that takes at least half of it, Release THREE restores most of this content to give players an opportunity to see Asteroid Base II as it was originally envisioned.
Like Asteroid Base for Jedi Academy, Asteroid Base II features the same heavy Star Trek design though both maps do no share any assets found in their respective PK3 repositories. The map have been developed using the latest builds of OpenJK and should work with the 'vanilla' and/or other ports deriving from the released Jedi Academy source code.
