Ammo Check
Removes the ammo count indicator from the HUD, so you never know the exact number of rounds remaining in your weapon unless you count your shots in your head.
This is the original AmmoCheck extension from the MagsRedux package, updated and enhanced for your hardcore™ gaming pleasure.

Compatibility
MagsRedux is fully supported but not required. Note that ModDB version of MagsRedux is buggy and outdated. Please use the latest version from Github.
Anomaly 1.5.1 and 1.5.2 are supported.
Features
At any time, you can press a shortcut key to quickly inspect your weapon and get an approximate message displaying how close to being f'd you are:
The message will not give you an exact count, but an approximate description. Checking the weapon also takes time (fully animated!) so it's not advisable to spam it in the middle of a firefight.
Color-coded messages, on-screen HUD elements and hotkeys can all be customized via MCM.

Can this work with desolation too, or only mags redux?
Yes, but no. Desolation has a different magazine framework. AC will report a wrong ammo count when magazines are enabled.

I was concerned it would be overwriting something, but no - clean, separate script - truly love it.
I see one miniscule issue, which is that when you use the bind for checking ammo twice in quick succession the prompt doesn't appear. It can be prevented by using long press input mode which makes us unable to use it fast enough again for the problem to occur.
A small suggestion I would give would be to make "Full + 1" prompt white as well, because - let's say - you are jumped by a chimera and you forgot you just reloaded your gun, you're running away and checking your ammo, but in a heat of battle you might not have the time to actually look at what the prompt is saying and instead, you want to be able to see what the state of a magazine is, just by seeing the color (or lack thereof), which with Amber might be confusing.
Choosing a color in MCM menu would be nice if that wouldn't be too much of a fuss to make (maybe somebody is colorblind and can't even differenciate between white and yellow [Tritanopia] - just sayin' 😉😇).

After playing with it a bit, another suggestion (cheeky me!) if possible would be to use some small animation (just as people in the FireModeChek's comments suggest) for inspecting the weapon, instead of using the holster animation of the weapon when checking ammo.
On some BaS weapons for example it looks quite silly when the player puts the safety on, every time, just to check the amount of ammo in the magazine. Same goes for some AKs with Blindside's reanimation pack.
Don't get me wrong - safety is king with guns and all that, but, ya know... It's a game, I'm in combat, please let me do it quickly!
The most ridiculous prize goes to BaS's AR15 HERA however, which plays the "let's pull the charging handle when pulling out the weapon regardless, whether it's hot or not, EVERY-SINGLE-TIME". It's a cool animation, but I mean, come on. 😂
Several points about the animation:
Not all weapons have inspect anims. We have to work with the common denominator we get.
We can't be expected to add new animations or fix borked ones for a simple HUD addon.
You can't tell if a weapon is full just by looking at it, you have to remove the magazine and smell it or something.
Fair, considering that every weapon has a set of its own animations... Maybe something on the front of FDDA would be possible. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
After all, those animations act the same way no matter what weapon you've got in your hands.
Also, I don't know if you're joking or not, but what they do after removing the magazine is weighing it. 😅
Plus, to be niggling, technically there are magazines with "windows" that let you just look at them and check the amount of ammo (for example AK's DMAG or PP Bizon's helical magazine). 😏
Hate to break it to you, but AmmoCheck wasn't the reason you got rekt by that chimera.

I just installed the mod, I was loading into my save game, and for some, got this crash just now. I wonder why its like this?

You're using an outdated MagsRedux. Try with the latest version from Github.
Edit: I added a workaround for this crash, but it's still recommended to update MagsRedux.

You could edit the script.
Just install MCM though, costs nothing, hella useful.

You can figure that out yourself, I'm not willing to spend extra time to teach & support a hack where the addon already provides an elegant solution.
No issue, I found it:
Open the .script file and find the line "local mcm_key = DIK_keys.DIK_T"
Change the "T" to any key.
I changed it to "C", making it "local mcm_key = DIK_keys.DIK_C"

hey there! It seems that quite often it takes about as much time to check ammo as it does to reload - just wandering if it wouldn't make sense from gameplay perspective to make the ammo check quite a bit faster?
Since speed seems to be tied to the animation, perhaps using the 'lower weapon' animation + somem little clicky sound instead, a better option? Just a thought.
EDIT: disregard that - I was using the older version and you have already done exactly that - the ammo check is now much faster, good shout!

Man , this addon have animations like checking the mag to see how much ammunition it has? Or only holster the weapon when checking the ammunition? I'm confused
The addon does not have new animations. It will play them if the gun has inspect animations though.
Does this addon have animation? Rather than simply holstering the weapon and then removing it from the holster?

It can be done, but you would have to extract the config files and make the modification yourself.
The relevant file is "configs\ui\ui_custom_msgs.xml".
Search for the element named "gameplay_notification" and edit its properties.
