This simple edit allows for easier refurbishing of Old & Damaged ammo into fresh rounds. The amount of ammo needed per combine is now the same amount you get back instead of double or triple the amount. Quite simply, you get what you give.
As an added bonus, the amount of Ammo Parts needed per combine have been lessened by 1. Now with compatibility patch with Outfit Attachment Overhaul.
While some believe that Old & Damaged ammo is unnecessary clutter and desire to remove it altogether, I desired a different approach because the concept makes sense to me in the Zone, but restoring bad ammo takes a surprising amount of sacrifice. TWO boxes of Old ammo? THREE boxes of Damaged ammo? Sounds like a bum deal. I checked the ammo stats - they're not that much worse than normal rounds. I'd rather shoot them and deal with the maintenance later. You're just getting too little back for what you put in it.
Finally, I decided to remedy this issue. After much searching, I figured out what file controlled this, and tweaked it in kind. Now you spend the same amount of Old & Damaged rounds at the vice as you get back in Normal ammo. No more scrapping 45 damaged rounds to just get 15 back. Now if you get 15 back, it costs 15. If you get 10 rounds back, it costs 10. Some might say that not every Old or Damaged round would realistically be usable. Well, this ain't reality, they all seem to shoot fine enough, and that's what the Ammo Parts are for anyways.
Speaking of which, I relaxed the Ammo Part requirement a bit too for all ammo types. I didn't want to go too far, as it's now the main requirement holding you back from simply restoring all the aged ammo at once. As a result, you'll be able to craft ammo much easier than before, just not TOO easily.
This mod was made while using Anomaly Update 4, Hotfix 8. Still, considering that it's a simple tweak, and I don't know of any other mod that modifies this file, it shouldn't conflict with anything. Lemme know if I'm wrong.
UPDATE: Goddamn, I'm a lazy $#!t. With this mod nearing 2 years old, we've seen significant changes since. Damaged ammo is no longer of concern, and the field has been reduced to Old ammo, making this mod considerably outdated and sorta redundant. After seeing that someone's downloaded the old version today, I decided that this was long overdue for a redo.
I've also added a version for those using Outfit Attachment Overhaul by Arti, which I've been using for quite some time and strongly recommend. This patch should keep their craft recipe adjustments intact.
Keep Crafting Windows Opened by TheMrDemonized strongly recommended.
Version 2.0 - Now properly updated for Version 1.5.1 Further reduced ammo parts necessary for 7.62x25 and .357 Magnum, as they were just too demanding before for what they are.
Ironically, not an hour after uploading this tweak, I unlocked the "Artificer Eagerness" Achievement which gives the vague benefit of "Crafting now requires one or two less components."
EDIT: After a couple of reloads and regaining the Achievement, I can see that is definitely a difference, at least in some areas: Several Damaged ammo recipes of medium & high calibers now require one less Ammo Parts, properly applied on top of the tweak.
For instance, restoring Old 7.62x51 now requires 4 Ammo Parts, while restoring Damaged 7.62x51 requires 6 Ammo Parts, but only 5 after the Achievement.
I got lucky like that too:
My addon for universal gun inertia fortunately works in just the right way that updates and other changes don't seem to cause problems
*noice*
Good stuff.
well since old & damaged ammo isnt that much worse than normal ammo, its a non-issue. just shoot the old & damaged and sell normal ammo
Damaged ammo does a lot more degradation to your weapon than normal ammo. Could be very expensive to shoot a lot of it through a nice gun.
I think a lot of people would love you if you posted it in the addons section of the Discord lmao
Nice job.
I admittedly don't deal much with Discord, probably less than I should.
EDIT: And it's done.
I have to thank you for this mod since i can't mod myself but i can change itx files so thank you a lot i just added a line for homemade buckshot shells from metal scrap, ammo parts and paper :D
Thanks for the mod! I'll be trying it today!
Any chance we can get a version where old ammo is 1:1 but damaged ammo is 1:2, and if not how do i go about changing this myself?
WOOHOO thanks for this man. I am with you, its not useless to have bad, or damaged ammo. Makes sense (dirty bullets dirtying your gun so you have to clean it more) But i never ever did the craft, because it was just so bad of a trade. With this now i can! so thank you very much!
will this work with 1.5.1?
please, i need this. or at leat the lines i had to copy to crafting
It's been months but I might as well mention for anyone else; it does work for 1.5.1. There have been no other changes to the craft.ltx file.
Greetings this is excellent, I have been looking for a complement that covers the manufacture of ammunition for a long time, but I have a problem, apparently I have conflicts with the Armor Crafter complement for Outfits Overhaul, apparently Outfit Attachment Overhaul Patch is overwriting the Armor Crafter complement and it leaves unusable, it also seems that there is a conflict with Powered Exo
why always only 15 in 15? why not more? gladly 150 in 150!
thx for doing the dilligence of covering all ammo and balancing the values. I can finally justify picking up old ammo again, apart from the old reason of just being a squirrel.
damn i am the only 2022 comment for anomaly 1.5.2
i dont know if it works but i am going to try, i love picking and scavenging ammo and going through the hustle of crafting my own ammo cuz the trader sells it at really high prices
if it works? ill edit the comment here
waiting to see if it works...
