Videos - usually with text tutorials they will miss out some details making it hard for beginners to follow.

moddb is ******* retarded when it comes to submitting tutorials. They need a better system . All 3 of mine were deleted randomly. No reason was started or notice. Not to mention all the crap you have to do to actually put them in the site.

The problem with your tutorials are they are not linked to any profiles. How are people meant to find them when they are not linked to any thing?

Video's or Picture's. Thats the best. But its also easy to understand text tutorials.

How about text with lots of pictures and a video to go along with it? :D

disagree , voices need to be louder they are always so quick and then there may be screamer lol ^^ i think better to make video with text/subtitles+voice , it would be much better

Fairly simple with lots of picture; easy to follow and easy on the eye.

Wall of text is a big no-no.

Videos... well, can't say I've ever tried it. Still, prefer *reading* through a tutorial in my own speed.

I would also say simple with pictures. Problem with videos is that they tend to be long and seeking to the right location is a pain in the butt with the flash/shockwave streaming crap in use. Besides often voices are hard to understand and the image quality crap. That's mostly because you can have a lot higher quality image with less bandwidth than a video. And I can reread text and look at an image taking my time while with videos rewatching a given part is a pain and you can't quickly go back and forth between steps to see where something went wrong.

videos = a waste of bandwidth. Want to look up something quickly? Prepare to waste an hour or so streaming & searching.

Yea, but at least with a video, you are probably going to get it right the first time, whereas with text tutorials you are probably going to end up doing it 2 or 3 times.

actually i find that using videos i have to repeat steps and go over stuff
you cant really move at you own pace you have to keep pausing and if you forget to pause or the tutor keeps moving quickly i have to track back through the slide bar and find the right spot
also theirs a problem with quality a lot of the videos i have used have been bad quality
also accents can be a problem

Usually I MacGyver things. But if I do use tutorials, then I prefer picture ones.. though usually when I've needed tutorials, I've needed them for coding and so they've been text...

Pictures, videos, voices and some lines of text - but short and extremely to the point.

Sometimes tutorials should be cut in half and the other half should be designed for the "discussion" or "various info" section (i.e. walls of text as a separate section).

(but sometimes, when there is no1 around me, I watch video tutorials :P)

Videos bug me, because I can't as easily work along at my own pace - or I have to deal with frustrating and annoying whiny American accents.

Text on the other hand, I can just keep on one screen and refer to as needs be - without having to go backwards and forwards in a damned video unnecessarily.

Video tutorials can be bad sometimes, people say stuff like "Just do this" assuming that we will re-watch one part of the video over and over again to see what hot-key they pressed to get a new tool or what value to put in a code...
If done correctly, pic/simple text tutorials can be the best!

Somewhere in between wall of text and images.

Too many images misses explanation, too much text misses demonstration.

My internet is too slow for videos, plus, I lose patience with them very fast, because they move at the video maker's pace, which may or may not (usually not) be my pace.

Those tutorials that teach you as you go on with something, like in games. Press these buttons to walk et cetera.

Also, i´d like a tutorial on how to chance the signature in teh forums. Mine is embarrasing.

It really depends on the subject, if it's gaming we're talking about a wall of text will end up pretty boring, but if we take programming as an example you can't place too many images there as it won't turn out too useful.
