Updating everyone on what is going on behind the scenes and what will be coming up in beta five also announcing some other important stuff.

Alot has been going on since the fourth beta of Doom:the tei tenga incident has come out. I joined a proffesional devlopment team, started work on a goldeneye total conversion, and so much other stuff. I am writing this as i work to make beta five, which will have alot of new features and levels. I am working on finishing out the third episode, balancing the first episode, improving the weapons, and so much more. Here is a semi recent video of work in progress update stuff.

Also there has been alot of behind the scenes work, such as

  • Fixing of weapons
  • implementing new weapons
  • removing old/useless weapons
  • re-balancing enemies and encounters
  • adding in secrets and making old secrets easier to find
  • bug fixes
  • bug fixes
  • mapinfo fixes
  • keyconf fixes
  • adding in tanks(thanks to sgtmk4 for the code/sprites)(might not have levels ready until beta 6)
  • work on e2 and e3
  • overhauling code
  • fixing sprites
  • working on a 1st episode only release for those who don't want the later episodes spoiled for them

Also in the art front, i am going to start a Patreon for those who want to donate Pizza/art money/server hosting money. i will put that up very soon and do a video. There will probably be a reward like a monthly newsletter or something. That said, even though i am making a Patreon, nobody has to pay anything to get access to the mod or any of the betas.

In other news, i am working to make a version of the mod that will work with Zandronum 4.0 as well. This is so people can play co-op and deathmatch. If i get enough monetary assistance, i will launch a 24/7 Tei Tenga Co-op/ deathmatch server. This is due to the Zandronum now following the latest builds of gzdoom in features, requiring little compatibility changes and supporting all of Gzdoom's advanced features.

I have really enjoyed working on this mod. I appreciate every comment, Private message, and that one Youtube video with feedback. I really appreciate the quick reporting of when something broke, when my computer accidentally encrypted beta three, and even that one complaint about the maps being somewhat boring. I feel honored to have such a great community spring up around my small mod. Thank you all, and i hope that beta Five will be worth the wait.

I think demo_the_doomer means adding more weapons described in the Doom Bible, like the Dark Claw, Unmaker, and Probjectile. The Spray Rifle is already completed as seen in the latest beta.

A lot of the weapons will feel new in the next update, as Ive increased the satisfaction of the weapons. The rifle is now a semi-automatic weapon that fires one bullet per click and has a 15 round magazine. The submachinegun now fires a lot faster an has a 30 round magazine, but is balanced out by a pretty long reload time. The rocket launcher has a 6 round magazine and reloads like a shotgun(with some satisfying clunking sounds to boot) There are also some new weapons, as well as so,as well as some weapons that kinda sucked are being removed(the SAW and the silenced weapons are now gone, as they felt horrible to use and the saw was impossible to balance)The SAW's ammotype is being re-used by the minigun, which is the chaingun but fires faster and has some spin up

I'm glad you're removing the useless silenced weapons and the SAW, because it was basically just a chaingun with no spin-up. The machinegun's faster firing rate also feels good to me. I hope we'll get the new beta soon! :)
