No More Room in Hell is created by a mix of newbie, indie, and industry developers. For some it is a hobby and for others it is experience in developing a game with other people. We do not get paid cash from the work we put into it, but we do get paid in experience, portfolios, and being part of a fun project.
Unfortunately our time to work on the mod is limited due to our daily lives and jobs. The more help we get, the better and faster we can make NMRiH. We have added several community members to the team who made maps and other content. So why not you!? With your help we can make our Steam release more content and feature complete and sooner. Our game is still in the beta stages which means it is still lacking in some departments. Things like character models and custom animations for example.
With that said, we are putting out the call for contributors. If you or a friend are looking to get into game design on a level of hobby, indie, or all the way to becoming an industry professional, then modding is the place to start. We are in need of:
- CHARACTER ARTISTS:
To help us create more player character choices, modular zombies for variety, and corpses/other NPCs
- PROP MODELERS:
To help us create content ranging from objective items, to military/civilian vehicles, street lights, dumpsters, furniture and more
- ANIMATORS:
To help us create new amazing animations for all the zombies, players, children, National Guard and more
- LEVEL DESIGNERS:
To help us create more maps for our Objective mode and planned modes in the future
- TEXTURE ARTISTS:
To help us create environment textures for our level designers to use to help the game look more unique, original and to cut down on the Half-Life 2 content of which there is still some being used
To apply for the team, simply post a thread in our forums: Nomoreroominhell.com
Don’t have time to be part of the team? Have a character model or other art assets you would like to contribute? Just e-mail us at contact@nmrih.com or let us know on our forums: Nmrih.com - You will have your work immortalized in the game and your name added to the contributors list on our site.

Well, teaching yourself is the best way in my opinion. I learned everything I know by teaching myself. Photoshop, 3ds Max, ZBrush, you name it. I learned it at a time when there were hardly any tutorials anywhere, but now the internet is FULL of turorials for everything game related! Check out www.polycount.com for art related stuff, or for Source related specific check out Valve's own Wiki at Developer.valvesoftware.com
Teach yourself, practice, and then you'll be like me, going on seven years in the industry now :)
Thanks!, I am studying to be a 3D Modeler and Animator
I haven't studied crap and I'm already modelling for companies as a freelance. All you have to do is read a few quickguides.
That being said, I would like to model small side projects, but currently have no time. And I doubt I will.
Eitherway, seeing the progression from the past few years I wish you the best of luck, so far comming back and replaying this surprises me every time, somehow. I don't know why, but I still think this is one of the most coherent mods made, be it with a few glitches.
Thanks for the kind words dude! And yeah, you don't need to "study" or do classes.. just mess around a bit, take a bit of time to let the theory of it sink in to your brain, ????, then profit!
I've been working for seven years now, currently at Ubisoft. Most people I've worked with went to school to some degree but a lot of them are like me, and didn't, and taught themselves. There are no rules in game development. As long as you have the skills, the portfolio, the determination, and the right attitude, you can get a job!
How about to ask Arby26?
No idea who that is
Too bad you guys don't need a writer...
All of our backstory details were completed a few years ago. Dman and myself handled the writing of that content.
Well, I did a hat for for tf2(wasn't accepted)
you can add that to the mod community on steam see who will download it
i can be level designer
If you'd like to apply to come visit our forums and post an application!
too bad I'm level designer for unreal engine, not for source one
Just wondering could an 11 year old do this?
Highly unlikely, but naything is possible.
Okay kinda the say question but could a 13 year old do this? (Because I'm 13)
I'd love to join for experience! Probably doing all of the above, because i have a bit of experience in all of the fields (however not so good at any single one) I've made hundreds of textures and prop models in 3ds max for unreal engine (killing floor) but have had little success getting models into source (want to learn) But i have made a few levels in source for CS:GO (none that have been released, unfortunately.) And I've tried my hand at animating, but haven't released anything for that either...But i want to. And this gives me a reason to both work harder, and push myself to make something worth seeing. If i had to pick a position (if i even can) i'd love to make some textures and props for you guys if you can show me how to get them into source, as well as offer a hand with anything else i can do. I'm in it for the experience.
check out www.interlopers.net and Developer.valvesoftware.com for info on how to get models in to Source, and then show us what you've got!
Does anyone have a tutorial on how to get Hammer to work with NMRiH?
