There are some things I'd like to point out about the donations and THB release. Read more to see what is up!

Quick Posted News, 2015, by Ultimate Apocalypse mod team.

January (Official) News is here

3 Things!!!

1. Donation issues, atm. Unlike the previous news where it said our donations account is all set up and everything, ready to receive donations... it is actually not set up (yet) or ready to receive money (sorry about that), so we are still on hold for accepting donations and receiving money, BUT... that doesn't mean you can be a pending donator.

Pending donators are people who are wanting to donate to the mod team for the mod team's hard work, but are unable to send the money, due to our poor, poor issues with the inability to setup an online account and accept the money in any way, shape, or form. We are very grateful that 5 people already are wanting to donate. It is awesome news, and we are willing to keep up for what we are willing to get in the future! We have Amazon account, atm (somebody please tell us how to place a donate button here), and we might get a paypal account up and running sooner or later. I will not be hosting it however, as I (Cylarne) fail at keeping money accounts, lol.

2. Pending donators are:

ROFLMTO (From MOD DB)
gabqo (MOD DB)
wheelmandan (MOD DB)
bag-of-hammers (MOD DB)
Jeffrey Smith (Not from MOD DB)
Elric (From MOD DB)

You can see donators list on the last news

3. There will be an eventual contest.

A contest, a vote that you, yes you can vote on. A contest between three banners of the Apocalypse mod, serving as our main logo. The contest will be produced and ready sometime in early February, or even sooner in case the mod team gets bored.

The contest goes as follows: The more votes obtained for any of the three logos, will be in the future our permanent logo of the UA mod until any other future contests. We have trouble deciding on which logo to use for the UA mod, and it will be sweet to see what the crowd thinks which logo we should use as our permanent logo for UA! We will be posting the contest here: Moddb.com

Along with a poll to display what three images of logos we will introduce. We will let everybody know on relicnews and MOD DB that there will be a said contest 24 hours before the contest begins. So be ever watching, because we have some ART to show off!

Thanks for reading. This is some eager news that must get out, and at the start of February, the professional news will be up and running. Thanks everyone!

I declare heresy on myself for having to wait a while before I can donate.

Hm? No hate, just quiet, accepting patience. The mod will be done when it is done, and it will be as fulfilling as what we'd hoped it will be.

This also gives me more time to get good at the time. Getting tired of Orks stealing my chaos marines' lunch money.

oh, while I have your attention, can I ask you something? How much does the AI cheat on higher levels of difficulty? And where can I go to change that? I mean, I can beat a single Standard AI easy, but Hard uses my face to tap dance on routinely.

It plays a mean riverdance....

Yes I agree there is a huge difference between Hard and Standard. I'm pretty sure on Hard the AI doesn't cheat. Harder and Insane though it does. A lot.

It's a strategy game so just find better tactics for an enemy. you'll find out that hard is not so hard actually ;) good luck

Since I know how to beat hard and harder AI (well, not harder anymore for some reason xD), I don't find any difference between standard and hard difficulties, but they do not cheat.

I think Lord_Cylarne is perhaps the second coolest mod maker/developer of all time, only being beaten by Millennia from the fallout 3/new Vegas nexus

Srs guys? I held my tongue about your terrible versioning system. Which, side note, should be {major}.{minor}-{patch} so 1.9 -> 1.10 not 2.0, but now you can't even figure out donations... Ever hear of bitcoins? You can always convert that to real money for yourselves. And please, for the love of god, open source your code, all mods should be.

What do you mean open source a mod's code? It's not like attribute code, ai files and the likes are restricted for someone with tools like Corsix's Mod Studio ( Corsix.org ) to modify. Usually use restrictions are related with models from specific authors.
AI files and a few more code related files like scar scripts can be edited with a simple text editor (usually something better than windows' notepad).
Check relicnews foruns if you want some more info on modding:

no, like, use github and push daily changes so the whole community can contribute and comment.

I understand your point of view but honestly i think that in this situation it would just be a mess and not as productive as it might seem initially. Each player has its own opinion about the mod which is usually extremely subjective and even if you narrow it to players who would be willing to modify the files (many prefer to play and not to make things), you would likely end up with several different UA versions which could not be combined and in some cases could even be extreme opposites.
Besides that, the trolls that usually hang around the UA page downvoting stuff and spamming would have the opportunity to introduce errors in the mod on purpose, to cause it to crash due to some typo or missing parameter for example.
Other people would just use the opportunity to play the mod before it is ready (like over 90% of those that offer to be testers) and then complain about wip coding.
Another reason not directly related with the above is that modders are not necessarily capable of getting daily changes published (it is a hobby not a job).

U should really learn about what your criticizing before you do it. The only people who would have change access to the project would be the devs, who could choose who was part of their group or not. If someone wanted to make changes the dev group didn't support they would need to fork the project. If that project did better because the community liked it more it wouldn't be unfair to the current devs, it should, instead, encourage them to work with the community. As for daily changes, I just mean that the community would have access as devs submitted changes. So before you critizse you should go learn about some actual open source projects and see that your worries are unfounded. EG. Graylog, logstash, centos, linux mint, Battle for Wesnoth, 0 A.D., etc. Some of these projects may even be powering this very website.

What i said was that in this particular case it would likely not be productive. If the access was partially restricted it would not be fully open source but simply expanding access to content and the creation of smaller developing teams. In theory good, in practice would be a problem as the devs would have to test it all and decide what would enter or not, which could obvious cause problems in practice.
Several people have released their own versions of a modified UA and that makes sense but messing in the development phase with branching situations might be counter productive. Incorporating personal patches after a release would likely be more productive.
I have no problem with open source development in general but you have to analyse the pros and cons on each project to decide wether a closed or open team is better (open source communities work like a team where each person contributes a bit without any actual connection nor long term requirements so it results in something like an open team).
I personally think that on DoW mods community development (open source code doesn't imply necessarily community development but community development implies open source code) is not the best idea but on other mods might be. On programs, some games and obviously linux based operating systems community development is usually a good idea but those are full depth projects while mods are surface/mid depth projects since you don't usually have access to the base code.

Does the team use version control to manage the mod between themselves, though? I speak from experience when I say it makes mod development much quicker and easier. =3

They likely have some internal version control system but i am not the right person to ask.

I, have an idea. Get down

So what if the SpaceMarine faction could get "allies" from non codex compliant chapters. This could be done with something similar to the Imperial Guard's companys research. You could say, research Space Wolf allies. This would allow you to get their special units (I.E, longs fangs, their own brand of librarian, or the like) that normals chapters do not have access to. Nothing game changing, just something that would add a bit of variety in a game to game basis. Thoughts?

Has anyone managed to beat late game Inquisition Daemonhunters with Chaos Daemons? If so can you help point me in the right direction. I am pretty sure I've tried everything. I can beat every other race except IDH with Chaos Daemons.
