Do to technical issues with the Source SDK, we are now moving over to UDK.
UDK will enable us to deliver a stand-alone game, which we could have never been able to accomplish with the Source SDK.
Here's the bad news, its a new set of tools for us. Chris and I are going as fast as we can to learn the UDK Editor etc> It has been slow going, but the results so far are really great.
We are scoping the project a bit to the engine, and will announce the features for the first release shortly.
Thanks to everyone for the support! We are really excited about this move.
There is a temporary fix for the SDK but I'll still watch. Besides, it will be even better as a standalone game!
I love the UDK. You should totally post some development blog posts so we can see both the game and your team's progress with the UDK. :D
UDK >>>>>>>>>>> Source SDK
UDK Owns source sdk on everything, keep with it.
Thanks for the support guys. We aren't really far along yet with the UDK. The learning curve seems to be right about the same as Source. I love our rest results so far, everything looks so much better in UDK. I am starting some testing this weekend, and will post some new screenshots.
So to start we were thinking of the whole porting of our current map from Source SDK to UDK, and I found a way that worked. Pretty stoked because I didn't see anything online showing how to. So, after 5 hours and 25 minutes, of importing and exporting after another, I got the map ported into UDK and we're pretty stoked. We'll just have to fix a bunch of things, but hopefully it won't be more work than to just restart.
I don't think it will be more work.
