Stable on solo play, but multiplayer is still bugged. To release or to delay again?...

Posted by on

As some of you may know, we promised to release the alpha build of HellStrike by the end of May. Playing solo with bots now is very stable. We've been testing with different maps with 11, 15, and 19 bots (depending on map size) over 10+ rounds. Multiplayer, however, is another matter. There's a lot of bugs and data overflow to fix. This is entirely my fault, and due to my inexperience and lack of resources (I need a 2nd PC constantly with me to work with). And for that I apologize.

I understand that multiplayer is a big component of a mod like this. So I want to ask everyone what they think: Should we release this as promised, or should we delay it again until we fix multiplayer? Which I'm honestly not sure how long it would take. Keep in mind that this is not a poll or survey and majority of opinion doesn't necessarily become the final decision. But I would like to consider the opinions of people who are interested before I make that choice. Good day...

Honestly if the Offline component is fun. Then release it. Multiplayer mods for Goldsrc games are a thing of the past, and if somehow Hellstrike Multiplayer will be alive, like other multiplayer mods for Valve games, It will die after some time.

Wow. I never thought of it that way, that's very insightful. I honestly don't know what the HL1 mod multiplayer scene is nowadays but now that you mentioned it, it's probably what I'd expect more or less.

Thank you for that comment! I will surely consider what you've said...

Basically, such mods are played offline, usually people only play the original, most fanatics are afraid of global changes in the game, such as aiming with a front sight, weapon upgrades, running and the ability to heal, so in 2012 the outdated cs go, where nothing new was released it was, only damn skins, it seems to me that if Gooseman had not left, then we saw cs 2.0 and most likely it looked like your mod.

Yeah it's kind of sad for mods like ours. They would rather stick with the tried and tested and if they want something new they'd pick an entirely new game.

Fun fact Gooseman did make a sort of CS 2.0 with Tactical Intervention: Youtube.com ...

For my experience making mods for the source engine, unreal engine and others, they should launch the mod without the multiplayer, since they have a lot of expectation of this mod and most who wait for it and keep waiting do not look for it for the multiplayer mode in addition to creating Mod feedback is very necessary in the early stages of launching a game or mod like that.

Thanks for giving your opinion. I know you've been a long time follower of this mod. If you didn't know yet, we're delaying it again, sorry. But we'll try to not take too long. We'll just fix multiplayer into something decent and workable. You can read more of it here: Moddb.com ...

There is no rush for your release; they can delay the project if necessary for a better game experience without errors within the final game.

It would help but right now I am working as a client assistant for Biomutant an MMORPG, the month that I will be free will be in November but I will follow this mod closely, good luck
