Post news RSS Test facility, weapons, explosions - and many videos!

A lot of progress has been made over the last 3 months with the conversion of spaceRPG (now being referred to as Scorched Metal) into wonderful 3D using voxels. Currently 1/3 of weapon assets have been converted, about 1/3 of the furniture and a small selection of structure pieces. It's playable, but the NPCs have not been re-added yet.

After many hours of work it is in a rough but presentable state and I feel confident enough to demo what has been done so far. I am personally REALLY pleased with how the game looks and feels in 3D, though I know there is a looong way to go. I anticipate having NPCs and AI back up and running in the next two months and more levels to show off.

Lastly, before we get to the videos, I have been testing the demo in browser and hope to have it available for everyone to check out before the end of 2015. Fingers crossed.

Now, on to the visuals!

So far this project looks great! So is the basis of the game about running your own ship and crew or is the theme different. Also as a suggestion for a game like this I'd go for the LEGO style of walk animations (Bouncy and not super realistic) as it would definitely fit the voxel theme. Good work on the game and good luck with it, you've earned a tracker.

Thanks, I appreciate it! This game will be a party based action RPG - heavy on the exploring and scavenging but light on the talking. I have another game on hold though which is a ship/crew management game and will be set in the same universe. I could only work on one project at a time due to work and family so I chose this one because it's relatively simpler.

Love your suggestions, they align precisely with what I intend to do.

Brilliant Mr Shane! It's been amazing watching this game grow from the inception a couple of years back to what it is now. Can't wait to see where it will be in 6 more months!
