Based on the venerable Shadowrun tabletop roleplaying game of the 80s and a spiritual successor to the console games of the 90s, Shadowrun Returns brings back one of our most original & cherished game settings as a single player, turn-based tactical RPG.
The year is 2054 and your old friend Sam has been murdered in Seattle. You’ve been hired to find the killers and bring them to justice, one way or another. Soon you’ll be embroiled in a mystery that expands from missing organs, an antagonistic detective and biker gangs all the way up to the dynastic control of one of the largest Megacorps.
Features
- Man, magic, and machine: In the dark underworld of Shadowrun's dystopian cyberpunk future, magic has returned and awakened the creatures of myth. Advanced technology fights side by side with powerful magic, while elves and trolls fight in the shadows cast by powerful corporations.
- Skill-Based Character Progression: Choose from a variety of career archetypes such as spell-slinging Mages, combat-focused Street Samurai, spirit-summoning Shamans, computer hackers known as Deckers, drone-piloting Riggers and the monk-like Physical Adepts. Then grow your character in any direction you wish. Want to play an ork shaman who became a cybered-up street samurai? You can do it!
- Shadowrun Returns Editor: Design your own stories and share them with the entire Shadowrun community. This is the same powerful tool the Harebrained level designers used to create the game. With it, you can construct new locations, characters, stories and elaborate tactical scenarios.
Join the dark underworld of Shadowrun’s dystopian cyberpunk reality where Man meets Magic meets Machine.
Only available through Steam at: Store.steampowered.com
I'm definitely buying!!!
hopely it will be good :3
Played the Shadowrun old game
I'd love a 2020 game...
Looks great, nice little blend of TBS and tactical action with a slight demon/fantasy twist, will be tracking!
Been available for pre-order on steam for a long time now, still no solid date for release? June is now so that's not a great estimate.
More recently Mitch from HBS has said they are still on track for "late June" on the Shadowrun Universe forums. They just don't have a specific date because they're still squashing bugs and giving themselves an arbitrary deadline would be a dumb move (either they'll have to delay it or release a game that is still buggy).
I'd prefer a delayed release, rather than a game suffering from bugs.
this type of comment from a dev...in what a world could we live if EA and Co would make comments like this?
If it was sarcasm I didn't get. I have nothing to do with this game or its developers. I'm just a gamer who would like to play this game, because I played the original one ages ago. And I don't think this is bad thing that they delayed the release. If they did it, then it was a reason.
No it wasn't sarcasm, aren't you making frozenstate? That's what i thought when i was writing this. If companys like ea would thinking the same like you than we would live in a better gamer world. My comment was more a compliment :)
I should say sorry)) I thought, you was saying that I'm one of the devs of shadowrun and trying to advocate for this game)) Sorry mate.
Yep, I was saying from a gamer's perspective, that I'd rather wait a few weeks, but get a polished game for the money I paid. Especially if a developer says it's finished. I was playing The Lust of Us and even such a big game with millions dollar budget has minor bugs.
My developer's point of view rooting in the gamer's, so I'd prefere to spend some time, improving my game and tell it to the community, rather then release as it's because I'm tight on budget.
I don't know maybe, because I make my game in a small team and still keep thinking like a gamer)
"Only available through Steam" lol this is why people torrent sh**.
Ah so you disagree with the distribution and that gives you a right to torrent it? Yeah. Totally a worthwhile 'reason'.
Its not distribution, its limiting nonoptional third party DRM bloatware.
Buy it, crack it, play it. Send Hairbrained Schemes an email saying you regret that they lost ~30% of the sales price to Valve.
as far as i can remember, didn't they say that it will also be available on gog?!
What a pity that the "No DRM" part bites the dust. They lost a sale.
So it was delayed 4 days? Outrageous!
Looks good
