Post news RSS Rising Storm becomes Netstorm 2

Recently we were contacted by Tripwire Interactive over our project's game title "Rising Storm", that turned out to be the name of Tripwire Interactive's own project that has been in development for just as long as ours, They asked if we would be willing to change our project name so that there would be no name confusion or conflict.

Recently we were contacted by Tripwire Interactive over our project's game title "Rising Storm", that turned out to be the name of Tripwire Interactive's own project that has been in development for just as long as ours, They asked if we would be willing to change our project name so that there would be no name confusion or conflict. We decided since they are closer to release and asked us directly, reaching out as one development team to another in a friendly manner, that we'd go along with the change. Besides it has turned out to be a very positive step forward for the project.
We have been conducting polls to try and feel out different names with the community and came up with a few names that were popular, including the following.

Storms Of Nimbus
Legacy of Storms
Nimbus at War

Although they are good names we wanted to include Netstorm in the name. After talking with the original dev team we now felt that the best name for the project should be Netstorm 2. So, I contacted one of the top people at Activision and asked for about permission. They said they saw no issue naming the fan tribute Netstorm 2 so long as the project remains a free fan tribute. We will use the other names from the polls for major patches that implement new features and abilities, such as:
NS2: Storms Of Nimbus
NS2: Legacy of Storms
NS2: Nimbus at War

Wow, that's an awesome thing to see.

-A company contacted another friendly about the name of their projects.

-The copyright owner saw no problem in a fan tribute (and it is using the original name).

And both in the same day!

Great news to hear. It's so nice to see some positive news coming from companies that doesn't involve them going after each others throats. Thanks for the update. Every bit of information is nice.
