Wow, my last post was on May 2012, It has been a really long time. So what happened? I just started working on Universe Edge for the last 3 months, and last month I have been working on it full time!

Wow, my last post was on May 2012, It has been a really long time. So what happened?
I just started working on Universe Edge for the last 3 months, and last month I have been working on it full time! I have recently left my job ( the job that I took when I postponed the development ), I really missed the game.

There will be a lot of changes from the initial UE, first, there's already a lot of First Person Spaceship building game, and I thought that I wouldn't be to contribute anymore on the genre. I am pretty sure you have seen Space Engineers! They nailed it! I'll probably have to play it soon.

Anyway, so UE is now some sort of RTS style control ( If you have played Gnomoria, it's like that, but in space ) and will now focus on Crew management. I have been actively posting progress on Twitter ( Twitter.com ), and I have promised myself to only post Beefy progress here in IndieDB, because of the Postponement, I will make it up to you guys. I have learned a lot of lessons from that postponement. This time will be it.

So here is the Nov - Dec Video progress :
This is my very first video recording myself, and Im still pretty nervous about it. haha, let me know if I should put subtitles next time. I have been really focused on the development, and hopefully in the next few weeks, I should be able to write up about the plans and features.

"Focusing on crew management" instantly makes me think "Faster Than Light". Is it going to be similar? But with multiple space ships? I am not quite sure what to expect, but I think it's good that you have changed the 'genre'. Universe Edge was the first one in the 'Minecraft in space' (if I may use that overused comparison) genre I heard about though, it's a shame you put it on hold a year ago.
Anyway, welcome back and good luck with development!

EDIT: Oh and to be honest I didn't watch the video because by skipping through it, it looked just too long/slow. I don't mean to say it's bad, because a developer putting effort in informing people is great, it's just that we are living in the 'instant loads of information' era with people with short attention spans ;)

Thanks for that feedback! You are right, I wish I had realized that sooner :) I'll do that on the next video.

The crew is somewhat similar to FTL, but I am aiming for more depth, there won't be direct conrol over the crew, but you will assign them jobs and give them equipments which will influence their actions.
