After two and a half years I am happy to say "Mr B's Big Adventure" is being playtested by someone other than myself for the first time! My programmer "Frantic Dreamer" is currently playing through the mod in it's entirety. Couldn't have made it this far without him so it's great to see the mod get to this stage. Now we're onto the next step of development, we're finishing up custom coded content first then moving onto making the maps better.
Right now I am looking for mappers as I need time to work on the mod's art style. If you would like to help with the mod please reply to this post and send your discord or other social media. It would involve improving the current maps rather than making them from scratch, though I would be open to that as well if you think you can make something good! There are over 50 maps for the mod so it's a tough ask I know. Most of the maps right now are rough and undetailed. If you go back to older posts you'll see that two years ago I had no idea what I was doing so some maps are very basic compared to others! I would also appreciate any experienced 3D modelers who are familiar with things like poly count etc. As I want to replace all the half life models for obvious reasons.
Any help is welcome and any advice is also. I want to create something unique so criticism is appreciated. This mod is a big passion project for me, ever since it's creation I have always made sure to work on it when I can. I've sat in the dark for 16 hours making maps for it when my sleep pattern was broken. I've almost gone crazy on many occasions when a scripted element breaks and I spend ages fixing it! All in all I feel it's worth it because this mod means so much to me. For now that's all I can say, I'll have an update when the mod is at it's next stage.
Cheers - Cam Curtis
50 maps sounds interesting, but depends on their quality :) Screenshots are pretty nice btw.
Totally! Next step after custom content is to downsize and trim the fat!
50 maps! How long does it take to complete the mod? I know it varies for every player, but for you as a developer who knows everything in the game.
Well it takes me five and a half hours to play through the whole thing atm aha.
Very impressive! I love long mods :)
Looking forward to it.
