We're going pretty slow and I'm pretty sure we're gonna keep this pace (at least this month) since I'm spending most of my time on my band and other team members are busy with other projects and what not.
Sorry if this disappoints anyone, but we'll try to keep you updated with content.
I'm gonna stop saying OH WE'RE GONNA RELEASE 2 MONTHS FROM NOW because we run into so much shit during testing that we end up having to redesign entire levels, like the finale level where you fight waves of enemies. it was completely redesigned.
It's playable for sure. The maps are there, it's quite damn enjoyable but we still have to address a few issues. I'm talking about major gameplay flaws like the (Jefferson) avenue map which is probably going to be redesigned completely since the player doesn't really have any idea of what to do. Problem is that most of our maps have choreos and what not, that means we'll have to make up new lines for the voice actors, get them in game, make the scenes and see how it all plays out. The only problem is that since some of our voice actors, for instance, Ross Scott, are quite busy with their own projects, it really sucks to get their lines in time.
Sorry for taking so damn long. We're doing this for you guys because we never thought it'd get this big.
Honestly we just wanna get this done. And we're all going to. Luckily the whole choreo thing won't take too long and soon enough we'll be fixing that avenue map and hopefully we're adding all the transitions and testing the final thing.
I know we're taking a lot but I don't know if you guys have an idea of how big this is. It's a total conversion after all. We want this to be top notch quality. We'd like to see this as one of those mods people will be re-downloading 5 years from now because it kicked ass.
If this makes up for anything, we already have plans for the upcoming releases. Right now, all I can tell you guys is that OF2 (eventhough it's pretty extensive for a mod) is an introduction to what we have in mind for future projects related to HL2. They most likely won't feature Shephard and they're going to be isolated occurrences in the post-7-hour-war era. that way we can let the player play as a random phoenix soldier, as a combine soldier, as an assassin synth, etc.
We'll keep calling it Opposing Force 2 though. But just like this chapter, it's gonna have its own title like "Urban Chaos". So yeah, this one's most likely the only one where you'll get to play as Shephard.
That's all. Just thanks for being so god damn patient, and we hate making you guys wait.

well as long as you guys are basically done, I think there is little to say anything else but, well done, and I hope you get all of your sound assets in place sooner rather than later.
You guys are going to need a break from modding soon. :)
If OF2 fanbase is mature enough, they'll understand that real life takes precedence over this project.
All I'm saying is good luck with whatever you're up to, hope the mod gets released eventually and I'm glad we're not left out of the loop and Menter is being honest about current state of affairs.

As long as you stay talkative(unlike most modding teams)I can wait. Plus it sounds cool to play as some kind of synth assassin, so I think I can definately wait!

You kinda lost me there, did you say the next mods you guys will make will not feature Shepard, or did you say Opposing Force 2 will not feature Shepard?
As far as I know, OF2 will be released in several chapters. The first one, "Urban Chaos", may be the only one where you play as Shepard.
I think they mean OF2 is the only mod to play as shephard. and they plan on working on some more mods that take place in the aftermath of the 7 hour war.

All I ask for is little news updates on progress, it's great to hear that you guys are still working on this even if progress is slow, I don't mind how long it takes you guys, lifes gets in the way and thats natural and perfectly fine with me.

I though - Whoa that really is OPPOSING force 2, cuz the idea of original OF was to take you on to other side of the barricades and here you are still on other side but there will be couple o more barricades to be behind.
Actually this news is pretty good news. I had no idea you guys where so close to finishing.... and yet we have hard little to zero news regarding Black Mesa Source, Blue Shift Source and HL3.
To say you guys are slow is nothing compared to the rest of the crowd. Glad to see that we are going to get OF2 this year.

Well, I must say little example: Black Mesa Source take long time to be fully completed, after release, we can see very good work.
So I think, Opposing Force 2 will take long time but after fully completed release it would be epic mod, as Black Mesa Source.:)
