The ACS (Advanced Combat Systems) P22 is an advanced infantry assault rifle, with early prototypes dating back as far as 2060. The P22 became the united nations answer to the growing threat of mechanised infantry, incorporating an armour piercing neutron round and a top mounted radio-sensor capable of picking up radiation signatures of fusion cores powering nearby armours.

Super-dense neutron rounds are manufactured at AMPAs (Advanced Munitions Particle Accelerators) where heavy particles such as uranium nuclei are bombarded with other high energy particles to extract their nuetrons. While each bullet is extremely costly to manufacture, the neutron slug comprises only 1% of the total bullet. It's weight coupled with a 1km/s muzzle velocity provides the bullet with enough momentum to knock a 15 tonne armour off it's feet.

An opposing gas discharge inside the stock of the rifle is timed to minimise the recoil produced by the neutron slug in the other direction.

While the scientists at AMPAs are continually improving neutron bullet technology, they remain ever aware of the theoretical risk of a collision product being so dense it collapses upon itself, forming a black hole.
