Almost three weeks have passed since the creation of the mod's ModDB profile, so it is more than timely to prepare our next media release and share it with the community. I am happy to say that lots of things have happened since our last update and we have made noticeable progress in every major areas of development: several minutes of custom music have been composed, a notable amount of modelling and texturing work have been done, and our coders have also been diligently at work. We are going to showcase all this progress in this media update - but first, let me introduce you our new teammembers...

New Members
The first newcomer to the team is HerĂ˜_Kenshin, who already started the coding of the basic gameplay mechanics, removed all unnecessary HL2 code and implemented two melee weapons plus the ability of reading documents in-game. Our second new member is John Imbler, who took on the composing tasks of the modification and is currently in the middle of creating a custom soundtrack for the mod that would hopefully help us in creating an immersive (yet depressive) atmosphere for the game. The majority of the soundtrack will mostly consist of slow-paced pieces, but the action sequences will of course feature more fast-paced instances of background music. Here is a short demo from the music tracks composed so far - I think it greatly reflects the atmosphere of the modification.

Models, Textures, Maps
Modelling and texturing are also coming along nicely, as you can see on the pictures below. Some of the models featured in this release (such as the first aid kit, keys, etc.) will act as pickable and usable items in the mod, while the lockers, rusty chairs, toolkits and billboards will be used as level props throughout the maps of our virtual city. As you can see, there are several textures associated to one model, to be able to make the environment as diverse as possible.

And finally, let me present you some in-game screenshots from the current version. New additions include the hand model of the mod's protagonist and the first melee weapon of the game, the iron pipe. I hope you like it and will use it to crush your enemies' heads in pieces with pleasure. The next weapon will be also simple and effective... But more about that in the next update... ;-)

This concludes our second media update. Thanks for reading our news post, and please keep checking our ModDB profile if you are interested in our modification.

That last picture to the left reminds me of Condemned. You've really nailed the estethics. Nice work guys!

The only thing i don't get when people model hands using melee weapons, is that left hand (or one of the hands) seems to look unneeded (screenshot might've froze it like that though)?

yes, the left hand does look unneeded on the screen.
who knows, maybe it looks good ingame or something.

Looks good I like how the first aid packs are different but couldn't that make them hard to find when needed?
also the left arm makes it look like he's jumping.
Other than those two minor complaints I think this will be a great game.

Cool. Simple models and good textures.

I was listening to the track by John Imbler. I understand that it's meant to be background music, so it shouldn't be too distracting, but have you thought of using some Dubstep [ Youtube.com ] influence in there? It sounds similar to the bass beat in your track, but catchier and with more tone and rhythm.

Dubstep is a pretty good electronic style for games actually, as the bass is less intrusive (though still powerful) than the sound of hard-hitting drums. It can also sound pretty dark - which might just suit your mod perfectly :)

Keep up the good work!

The left hand in the second last picture looks disjointed, but overall I'm liking this. :)
