With the beginning of the new year, the team of MechWarrior: Living Legends is looking back at the past few months that have been a quite turbulent time for the team. One of the major breakthroughs in the development process was the successful implementation of the Modular weapon system which will allow you to fully customise the weapon load out of your Mech - and other vehicles, too - once the mod has been completed.

Along the way, we've kicked off a promotion called "Advent Calendar" - "advent" as in "arrival" - which will bring a new piece of media every day until the first public release of MechWarrior: Living Legends. Among the media released in the process so far is this audio trailer:

And this fresh little teaser that showcases the day-night-cycle on one of our maps, ToA_ClearCut.

Of course, the majority of the releases were screenshots, among them one showing the currently four variants of the Warhammer Mech, a pretty threatening view, attempts at giving you an idea of the dimensions in our mod and of course several in-game combat shots.

Another achievement we're pretty proud of is the successful implementation of the TAG laser, a targeting helper that we hope will significantly improve team play as every allied unit with targeted missiles will be able to make use of this handy device. Also, fans of the Battletech and MechWarrior universe will be glad to hear that we've successfully implemented customisable weapon groups, heat management, component damage, jumpjets and many other features we'll be showcasing in the near future.

This concludes the the first MechWarrior: Living Legends update of 2009. We hope you enjoyed this little piece of information and are looking forward to the release as much as we do. If you do, please consider voting for us in the upcoming ModDB Mod Of The Year Awards.

i remember mechwarrior 2, if you loaded an assault mech with nothing but machine guns, it was a one hit kill.

Yeah, we thought a more personal approach and retrospective spiced up with some of our latest media would represent the team and the team spirit better as we're focused on creating quality and then do the polishing with the mod itself as well.

I have to say that this looks like one of the most dedicated mod projects out there.. I mean look how far you guys have come and w/o a hiccup.. Its great to see that a mod team can really stick together and finish something for once :D and actually go above and beyond doing it!!!

GREAT WORK
